Description Position Title: Room Attendant Department: Housekeeping Reports To: Date Written/Revised: June 4, 2014 POSITION SUMMARY To clean and stock guest rooms to ensure the company’s high standards of cleanliness. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Clean bathtub, toilet, sink, walls, mirrors, tiles, counters, windows and floor surfaces using cloths, mops, sponges, brushes, and/or cleaning agents by extending arms over head, bending and stooping. Spot clean stains on walls, doors, carpet and furniture. Strip and make beds, changing bed linens which may require lifting bedspreads weighing a maximum of 40 pounds. Change all bed linen including bed skirt, mattress topper and pillow protector as needed. Dust all furniture, pictures, window ledges, and shelves thoroughly. Check under bed to remove trash or other debris. Maintain cleanliness of public space, i.e.: lobby, public restrooms, offices, elevators and stairways as assigned. Push and pull vacuum throughout entire room and empty trash. Replenish amenities, linens, and supplies in guest rooms. Sign for keys, retrieve, push cart weighing up to 150 pounds. Visually inspect rooms for cleanliness and appearance and signify completion of room. Must report all repairs or maintenance problems to supervisor. Greet guests in hallways or in passing, ask if they are enjoying their stay. SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions. Respond in a timely manner to guests requests for items such as an iron, safety instructions, assistance, direction, and/or other information as requested. Report all suspicious persons, activities or hazardous and unsafe conditions to a supervisor or manager. Turn in all items found to the property Lost and Found Department. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor such as cleaning rooms, assisting Room Attendants or cross training when necessary. SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities to be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities. Ability to push or pull equipment weighing up to 150 pounds. Ability to lift and carry objects weighing an average of 25-50 pounds. Ability to scrub and scour surfaces, extending arms over head to perform cleaning tasks, and work in confined spaces. Ability to communicate effectively with other associates, as well as guests. Ability to follow instructions, directions, and meet deadlines, including the thorough cleaning of a minimum of __ rooms as specified by management. Basic ability to comprehend the English language sufficient to understand information such as labels and instructions and basic guest requests. Qualifications QUALIFICATION STANDARDS EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the job. GROOMING All associates must maintain a neat, clean and well groomed appearance (specific standards available). FLSA Designation nonexempt OTHER Upon employment all associates are required to comply with the standards, rules and regulations which may be established by the Company and updated from time to time. Associates who violate property rules or have irregular attendance will be subject to disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment. The Hospitality business functions seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. Due to the cyclical nature of the hospitality industry, associates may be required to work varying schedules, weekends, holidays and overtime to reflect the business needs of the property. Associates may also be required to attend group and/or department meetings in addition to the work shift as necessary. In addition, this is a hospitality business and a hospitable service atmosphere must be projected at all times.
