The Painter will be responsible for painting raw steel platforms and various products and equipment. Current openings for <strong>day </strong>shift (Mon-Thurs 530 am-4 pm).</p><p><strong>Essential Responsibilities</strong></p><p>• &nbsp; Paint raw steel platforms and various products and equipment.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Move platforms and various products using a overhead crane or forklift.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Perform Wet Painting tasks in a safe and timely manner.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; On occasion be required to perform general labor and cleaning tasks as directed by your supervisor or leadperson.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Keep up with routine maintenance procedures and cleaning equipment.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Document inspections and paint usage in proper records.</p><p><strong>Job Requirements - Core Competencies</strong></p><p>•&nbsp;&nbsp; High School Diploma or General Education Diploma preferred<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Minimum of 4 years of experience of wet painting, sandblasting and surface preparation techniques.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to perform basic math functions.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Proficient with use of Airless and Conventional paint spaying systems with very minimal to no defects.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Knowledge of wet painting and proper paint mixing technique (ex: two-part Epoxy primer and Polyurethane paint).</p><p>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Must have a basic command of the English language, both written and verbal.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Proficient with use of Steel Grit Blasting equipment and knowledge of basic maintenance.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to work independently or part of a small team and perform required tasks with little supervision.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to maintain a clean work area by picking up trash and sweeping the floor and disposing of paints and solvents in appropriate location. Throughout and at the end of the shift.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to perform and recognize a Commercial Grade Blast cleaning on steel.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to use a wet paint film thickness gauge and dry film thickness gauge.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to use a profile gauge to achieve appropriate anchor profile of required blast.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to recognize and properly repair defects in paint finish (i.e. runs, holidays and orange peel).<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to perform basic troubleshooting functions on Airless and Conventional paint spaying equipment.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to follow directions, company operating procedure, safety rules and ISO requirements.<br>•&nbsp;&nbsp; Ability to work up to 12-hour shifts upon request on occasion. Frequently required to work a 6th day (Saturday) during your normal shift.</p><p><strong>Working Conditions</strong></p><ul><li>Safety sensitive position in a temperature controlled manufacturing or industrial environment with occasional outside activities.</li><li>Required to wear personnel protective equipment at all times (i.e., hard hats, safety glasses, hearing protection, safety harnesses as required) and respirators when required.</li><li>Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, \"A\" frame ladders and all size extension ladders) and scaffolding.</li><li>Working at heights usually no higher than 30 feet in the air on or using proper lift equipment.</li></ul><p><strong>Physical Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Able to maintain body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.</li><li>Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner continuously.</li><li>Continuous standing, walking 50-300 foot distances for long periods of time with only occasional sitting.</li><li>Must be able to climb stairs frequently throughout the shift.</li><li>Able to frequently look over shoulders, work with both arms above shoulders and use both arms at full length frequently.</li><li>Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force continuously up to 50lbs.</li><li>Ability to use hand tools such as tin snips, hammer, and power tools (some vibrating), for long periods of time with frequent repetition.</li></ul><p><strong>Who we are</strong></p><p>Powell Canada Inc. is a subsidiary of Powell Industries, which is located in Houston, Texas.
