The Deli/Prepared Foods Manager is the service leader the Cafe departments (BOH, FOH, Bakeshop, Bread and Cheese) and is a key operational role responsible for successful execution of product quality and production throughout our cafe, barista, cheese, bread and bakery departments. The Deli/Prepared Foods Manager sets a positive tone for the team, creating a smooth and seamless operation of the department. This role focuses on financial success, operational efficiency, hospitality, maintenance of all equipment and facilities, product taste and quality, people management, and food safety.

The Deli Prepared Foods Manager is a dynamic, energetic leader who sets the standard for both culinary excellence and guest service. They have a deep passion for fresh, healthy food, ensuring that every dish prepared meets the highest standards of taste, quality, and nutritional value. With a keen eye for detail, they ensure that the deli displays are not just well-stocked but artfully arranged, showcasing seasonal ingredients and new menu items in an inviting and enticing way. They make certain the BOH, Bakeshop, and FOH areas are kept organized and well-stocked, maintaining inventory levels and ordering supplies with precision, always keeping food safety standards in mind.

"requirements_text": "Essential Duties and Responsibilities\n Leadership & Staff Management:\n Lead and manage the BOH, Bakeshop and FOH teams, ensuring a collaborative, positive, and high-performing environment.\n Expectation of availability outside normal working hours during holiday seasons to oversee increased production.\n Train, mentor, and motivate Assistant Managers to hold staff accountable, provide feedback, deliver exceptional guest service, maintain cleanliness, and uphold food safety standards.\n Write weekly schedules, approve time off requests according to company policy\n Ensure departments are adequately staffed during busy periods.\n Works with P&E to interview and hire staff\n Inventory & Ordering:\n Manage inventory across all three departments\n Ensures supplies are ordered timely, ingredients, and packaging, balancing cost control with the need for quality and freshness.\n Reduce waste by implementing effective inventory rotation, portion control, and efficient ordering practices.\n Quality Control & Health & Safety Compliance:\n Ensure that all food safety regulations, sanitation protocols, and health codes are strictly adhered to across the Café departments.\n Conduct regular food safety training and ensure compliance with all food handling, temperature controls, and hygiene standards.\n Monitor quality control processes to ensure consistency in taste, texture, and presentation.\n Responsible for creating and maintaining a safe work environment for our staff at all times, preventing accidents and injuries.\n Administrative & Financial Oversight:\n Track sales, expenses, and other key performance indicators to ensure departments meet financial goals, including profitability and labor cost control.\n Prepare and analyze reports related to sales, inventory, and staffing, and makes adjustments as needed to meet objectives.\n Assist in budgeting and forecasting for each department.\n Education Requirements:\n A culinary degree or certification, preferred (extensive cooking and production experience)\n Formal food safety certifications\n Successful completion of Serv Safe Manager Program (provided in house)\n Experience Requirements:\n At least 5 years management in a food service environment\n Previous culinary experience\n Previous guest service environment experience\n Knowledge of food procurement and inventory management\n Previous experience in a professional kitchen environment or equivalent\n Previous experience working with local, organic products and familiarity with standards regarding local, organic produces is preferred\n Location: 222 Dorset St. South Burlington\n Shift Hours: Open shifts, Mid-shifts, and Closing shifts, including weekends and holidays\n Pay Rate: This is a salaried, exempt position that has a starting salary range of $56,160 - $67,000.
