Description Position Title: CDL Truck Driver Pay Rate : $20 per hour Category/Shift : Hourly Full-Time: (Monday-Friday) Day Shift Hours Physical Location : DS Smith Greeneville Warehouse 710 Campbell Drive Greeneville, TN 37745 SUMMARY: Truck Drivers must possess a commercial driver’s license and current DOT medical card and be trained in safe driving best practices. Drivers will be responsible for daily customer deliveries and may assist with loading and unloading their vehicle and are responsible for ensuring the product is secure and delivered in a timely manner. Must comply and support all applicable GMP’s, Site Security, and Food Packaging Defense requirements that are referenced in the facilities of GFSI food packaging safety program. The Job You Will Perform: Keep all DOT daily logs and fuel records accurate and current. Make sure all deliveries are on time Inspect tractor and trailer & keep trailers clean & swept out. Provide updates to Shipping/Customer Service on deliveries as needed Stretch wraps products. Ensure all loads are strapped and properly secured Operates fork Truck Move around loaded pallets, skids, boxes, products, or materials Unloads and stacks material by raising and lowering lifting device. Weighs materials or products and records weight schedules. Ensures all units are recorded on proper paperwork. Fills out pre-inspection forms Inspects bales for damage The Skills You Will Bring: Truck drivers require five (5) years previous driving experience and other skills, including strong knowledge of safety and DOT regulations, to be familiar with not just traffic laws but rules regarding rest, maximum miles driver, etc. Possess a clean driving record and licenses. Agree to annual driving records checks. Physically fit and willing to submit to medical exam every two years. Hand-eye coordination to coordinate hands, legs and eyes to maintain a fast reaction time Visual and hearing acuity, in accordance with federal regulations which mandates drivers are required to hear a forced whisper at 5 feet, have at least 20/40 vision, a 70-degree field of vision and the ability to distinguish the color of traffic lights. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Employee must be able to occasionally lift/carry 1-20 pounds and lifting 21-50 less often from the ground to waist height. This job requires some reaching, kneeling, squatting, and climbing stairs. Hand/wrist work including power grasping, pushing and pulling materials, walking and standing and sitting while driving. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Employee must wear protective glasses, safety steel toed shoes, safety bump caps and use hearing protection as required. Most of the work is road driving but with occasional work outside. The plant and warehouse can be chilly in the winter (above freezing) and is hot in the summer (non air conditioned). The plant is generally clean of debris and clutter, but the manufacturing process generates a fair amount of corrugated dust. Position may require overtime including possible weekends.
