Job Title: Summer Conference Assistant (Student Position)
Reports To: Assistant Director of Operations
Location: The Towers at City College of New York

Capstone On-Campus Management (COCM), with headquarters in Birmingham, Alabama, is a group of student housing professionals focused exclusively on the management of housing communities owned by non-profits and/or highly affiliated with a university.
Summary:
The Summer Conference Assistant helps in the daily administration of the Summer Housing Conference Program, which caters to a diverse set of conference guests, ranging from middle school aged children to adults and researchers attending conferences and seminars at CCNY and other local institutions/organizations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist with preparing all aspects of assigned conferences and ensuring readiness for group arrivals. Maintain communication with conference organizers and keep the Assistant Director of Operations informed of needs and issues. Attend weekly meetings to review conference plans and updates. Prepare guest check-in materials, maintain accurate records, and follow assigned work schedules. Perform daily customer service duties, including check-ins/outs, providing information, and reporting guest concerns. Report emergency maintenance issues promptly. Participate in the on-call duty rotation with Resident Assistants. Assist with end-of-summer linen inventory and other assigned tasks. Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
High school diploma or GED required. Must be currently enrolled as a full-time student at a higher education institution. Must remain in good financial and judicial standing with The Towers and their academic institution. Ability to read, write, and present basic information clearly. Ability to follow instructions and resolve routine issues using common sense. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace and Gmail. Ability to operate standard office equipment and perform basic computer tasks. Ability to lift and move up to 35lbs. Available to work 20 hours each week for the entire summer session (May 20 – August 22). Workdays and hours vary based on summer conference needs.
Conference Assistants are required to be available all day for the following specific dates:
May 22: Academic Contract Move-Out Date July 25: Annual Contract Move-Out Date August 22: Fall Move-In Day The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The work environment is mid-to-high paced. The noise level is usually moderate.
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to walk, climb stairs and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
The Conference Assistant will work eighteen (18) hours each week for a furnished four-bedroom apartment (estimated worth $7,216 per summer period). If the Conference Assistant resigns or is terminated from the position, they must vacate their room and move out of The Towers within three business days. If eligible to reside at The Towers, they may sign a new Housing License Agreement and relocate to the new housing assignment within three business days of the end of employment.
Will work the remaining (2) hours at a rate of $17.00 per hour (maximum of four (4) hours each week).
Position is a part-time student position and not eligible for benefits.
