May function as a group leader over less experienced engineers and technicians.  Is responsible for coordinating and reviewing progress of group activities..</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>EDUCATION</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Normally requires at least a four-year degree in Chemical Engineering.     </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Requires a minimum of 10 years experience in Process/Design Engineering or related functional area (or equivalent working knowledge/experience). Registration as a licensed professional engineer is required. Must be cognizant of the capabilities and limitations of various computer software packages and automated engineering and design equipment to effectively direct their use for diverse engineering assignments.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Analyzes and documents scope of project and technical aspects in accordance with client and company specifications.</li>\n <li>Oversees activities regarding overall plant design.</li>\n <li>Determines Process staffing needs for project.</li>\n <li>Prepares equipment specifications.</li>\n <li>Participates in or facilitates Process safety reviews.</li>\n <li>Evaluates project progress and personnel performance.</li>\n <li>Identifies problems for investigation and recommends solutions or major design changes.</li>\n <li>Participates in preparation of contract proposals.    </li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>LANGUAGE SKILLS</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of clients, managers, designers and engineers.     </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>MATHEMATICAL SKILLS</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>PHYSICAL DEMANDS</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Occasionally, will conduct or participate in a field trip to an operating plant or construction site. This requires normal hearing, the ability to stand, walk, reach, climb and balance, clear close and distance vision, depth perception and the ability to focus. Lifting up to 25 pounds may be required.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT:</strong></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Normal work environment will be a business office with moderate noise.  Occasionally, may visit or be temporarily assigned to work in an operating plant or at an construction site.
