    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>This position is responsible for both Maintenance Mechanic and Lead functions.  As a Mechanic the incumbent will provide general repair and maintenance of mill equipment. As a Lead the incumbent will direct work functions, scheduling, prioritizing work orders, populating backlog, and keeping a daily log of events; this does not include disciplinary action. </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide guidance and direction to shift employees.</li>\n <li>Ensure work is completed in timely manner.</li>\n <li>Inspect work for completion and accuracy.</li>\n <li>Schedule shift employees while meeting production schedule.</li>\n <li>Schedule work orders for 100% completion rate.</li>\n <li>Prioritize work orders.</li>\n <li>Ensure parts are ordered against work orders.</li>\n <li>Populate Back Log.</li>\n <li>Keep track of daily events through End of Shift Report.</li>\n <li>Performs maintenance in all areas of the plant on a scheduled or emergency basis: </li>\n <li>Mechanical repairs on pumps, valves, and heat exchangers</li>\n <li>Building repairs and cleaning</li>\n <li>Moves, sets, calibrates, as needed, controls such as knobs, valves, switches, levers, and index arms, on control panels to control process variables such as flows, temperatures, pressures, vacuum, time, and chemicals, by automatic regulation and remote control of processing units, such as heaters, coolers, thermal oxidizer, compressors, exchangers, and other units.</li>\n <li>Determines malfunctioning units by observing control instruments, such as meters and gauges or by automatic warning signals, such as lights and sounding of horns.</li>\n <li>Inspects equipment to determine location and nature of malfunction such as leaks, breakages and faulty valves. </li>\n <li>Patrols units to verify safe and efficient operating conditions.</li>\n <li>Performs preventive maintenance activities as required. </li>\n <li>Assists with new installations and other projects, as requested by the supervisor. </li>\n <li>Participates in safety, health, and environmental programs. </li>\n <li>Knows and understands city, county, state, and federal regulations relating to maintenance and plant equipment, and works in a manner to ensure that these regulations are met at all times. </li>\n <li>Participates in programs and procedures required to ensure plant cleanliness. </li>\n <li>Be available for overtime work on a scheduled or call-in basis as required. </li>\n <li>Make daily inspections of mill areas looking and listening for any abnormal sounds or smells.</li>\n <li>Talk with operators about any issues that may have been encountered.</li>\n <li>Set up scheduled maintenance projects to eliminate or reduce lost production time.</li>\n <li>Work with plant manager on obtaining the best prices for maintenance materials.</li>\n <li>Perform safety walk throughs on a regular basis to insure all guarding and other safety devices remain in place.</li>\n <li>Work with outside contractors making sure outside contractors are doing the assigned jobs up to standards.</li>\n <li>Work with management on capital expenditure projects making sure that cost containment is a priority.</li>\n <li>Other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>A high school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience.</li>\n <li>Minimum of five (5) years’ industrial maintenance experience. </li>\n <li>Experience with industrial dryers, hammer mills, extruders, and bucket elevators preferred.</li>\n <li>Previous lead experience preferred. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Skills</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Understanding of plant operational processes and procedures, including routine and emergency start-up and shutdown practices</li>\n <li>Familiarity with industrial equipment operations and care</li>\n <li>Mechanical experience</li>\n <li>Electrical experience</li>\n <li>Pneumatic experience</li>\n <li>Hydraulic experience</li>\n <li>Welding experience</li>\n <li>PC/PLC experience preferred</li>\n <li>Forklift experience</li>\n <li>Manlift experience</li>\n <li>Front Loader experience</li>\n <li>Knowledgeable of PPE’s and Fall Protection</li>\n <li>Knowledgeable in Lockout Blockout (Machine Specific)</li>\n <li>Proficiency with basic computer software preferred</li>\n <li>Demonstrated interpersonal skills</li>\n <li>Ability to work with all levels within the organization and the ability to work in a diverse group</li>\n <li>Ability to write detailed repair reports and must good verbal communication skills</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Requirments</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Must be able to perform job duties while wearing a respirator</li>\n <li>Must be able to lift and work overhead, to stoop and to crouch</li>\n <li>Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs on a regular basis</li>\n <li>Must be able to climb ladders and work at elevations of 175 ft.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Environment</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts.</li>\n <li>The employee will be regularly exposed to very dusty and noisy conditions</li>\n <li>The employee will be exposed to outdoor weather conditions</li>\n <li>The employee may be exposed to chemicals used in the
