Quanta’s focus on the utility industry and HBK’s focus on constructability in our designs has made our integration into the Quanta family of companies seamless.</p>\n<h2>About this Role</h2>\n<p>A Design Engineer- Civil at HBK Engineering is a position for engineering professionals with increased independence and leadership responsibilities. This role involves using engineering judgment and problem-solving skills to independently address unique and complex electrical, structural, civil, and construction-related challenges with minimal oversight. The position includes coaching and mentoring entry-level staff while performing peer reviews of engineering designs, representing a significant step forward in professional development and technical responsibility within the Engineering Track. <strong>Office locations: Chicago and Oak Brook, IL, Denver, CO, and Philadelphia and Norristown, PA.</strong></p>\n<h2>What You'll Do</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Design engineering systems in compliance with specifications, codes, and client requirements for overhead and subsurface utility projects</li>\n <li>Use engineering judgment and problem-solving skills to independently address unique and complex challenges with minimal oversight</li>\n <li>Coach and mentor entry-level staff in their professional development</li>\n <li>Perform peer reviews of engineering designs under the oversight of professional engineering staff</li>\n <li>Own all phases of the design lifecycle from project initiation through construction completion and closeout</li>\n <li>Prepare detailed engineering and construction documents using AutoCAD, MicroStation, GIS systems, and client-specific enterprise asset management platforms</li>\n <li>Analyze information from topographical surveys, utility atlas information, field sketches, client records, and manufacturer equipment datasheets</li>\n <li>Prepare reports and studies that present technical information clearly and concisely to meet client requirements</li>\n <li>Work with project management and engineering leadership to manage project risk</li>\n <li>Communicate complex engineering matters to internal project management, engineering leadership, and field resources</li>\n <li>Independently manage time and schedule to achieve project milestones</li>\n <li>Perform field walkdowns with internal staff, clients, customers, governance authorities, and construction partners</li>\n <li>Travel as needed, typically less than 25%</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What You'll Bring</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related degree from an ABET-accredited program</li>\n <li>EIT Certification preferred</li>\n <li>Required 2.5+ years of relevant experience (not internships)</li>\n <li>US driver's license and US work authorization</li>\n <li>Ability to work independently and in interdisciplinary teams</li>\n <li>Strong technology skills and understanding of the Office365 suite of tools</li>\n <li>In-depth knowledge of 2D CADD software (AutoCAD or similar) including generating layout drawings and project materials</li>\n <li>Experience reviewing drawings or engineering materials developed by others</li>\n <li>Training and mentoring experience with entry-level staff</li>\n <li>Understanding of remote communication software</li>\n <li>Ability to quickly come up to speed on in-process projects and hit the ground running</li>\n <li>Experience collaborating with teams to complete larger projects</li>\n <li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills</li>\n <li>Persistence to see projects through to completion</li>\n <li>Adaptability to change in a dynamic team environment.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>What You'll Get</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Leadership opportunities through coaching and mentoring responsibilities</li>\n <li>Professional growth with increased independence and minimal oversight</li>\n <li>Experience in peer review processes under professional engineering supervision</li>\n <li>Advanced project management and risk management experience</li>\n <li>Enhanced client communication and technical reporting responsibilities</li>\n <li>Field experience through walkdowns and stakeholder interactions</li>\n <li>Travel opportunities for project work and professional development</li>\n <li>Collaborative work environment with project management and engineering leadership</li>\n <li>Clear career progression pathway within the HBK Organization's Engineering Track</li>\n <li>Continued preparation for Professional Engineer (PE) licensure.</li>\n <li>Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability and employer paid life insurance.
