    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Lord Cormack Fellowship 2026</span></p>\n<p>Total Politics Group is proud to announce the return of the Lord Cormack Fellowship, a paid editorial and political journalism fellowship with <em>The House</em> magazine, Parliament’s independent and cross-party publication.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The fellowship is named in honour of Lord Patrick Cormack, the late politician, author and journalist who co-founded <em>The House</em>. Generously supported by his family, the scheme reflects Lord Cormack’s deep-rooted values of editorial impartiality, cross-party collaboration, and respect for the institution of Parliament.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This year, we plan to take on two Lord Cormack Fellows for two weeks each, throughout July. Their first week will be based in our London headquarters, during which time they will receive hands-on experience in journalism, politics, and publishing, gaining exposure to all aspects of <em>The House</em> magazine’s editorial, creative and commercial operations.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This includes structured modules in:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Political Journalism: From Westminster tours and shadowing lobby reporters to investigative journalism, FOI training, and policy deep-dives with <em>The House</em> editorial team.</li>\n<li>Publishing &amp; Advertising: A 360° view of campaign delivery, creative production, and digital ad operations.</li>\n<li>Politics &amp; Policy: First-hand insights from senior MPs, civil servants, and voluntary sector leaders on the machinery of government, Parliament, and communications in politics.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The second week of their fellowship will be completed remotely and will allow the fellow a chance to produce a piece of freelance journalism, with support from our editorial staff.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Editor in Chief of The House magazine Alan White, said, “The House has a long track record in producing the great political journalists of tomorrow, and I’m very pleased that we are able to bring back this scheme for another year. My thanks to the many individuals who have volunteered their time to help.”</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Richard Cormack said: “Throughout his long parliamentary career my father, Lord Cormack, was a steadfast believer in equality of opportunity. I’m delighted to help the House magazine in providing a fellowship that will be accessible to all, and very grateful to the Royal Foundation of St Katharine for their generous support.”</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>“We are proud to be able to offer this unique opportunity for aspiring journalists to learn about insightful, high-quality political media at the very heart of Westminster,” said Mark Wallace, CEO of Total Politics Group. “In the House Magazine’s 50th year, it is fitting what we should provide a springboard for the new talent whom I am sure will go on to report and analyse politics for years to come.” </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Lord Cormack Fellowship is open to individuals over the age of 18 and has been designed to be fully accessible. The selected fellow will be paid the London Living Wage during the first week in London, with accommodation provided by the Royal Foundation of St Katharine for those who require it. The second week will take place remotely with an opportunity to work on pieces for the magazine, for which the fellow will receive our standard freelance fee.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This initiative builds on <em>The House</em> magazine’s reputation as the essential platform at the heart of Westminster – providing trusted political reporting and a unique window into Parliament since its founding in 1976.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Applying</span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The fellowship is open to any applicant over the age of 18 and will run from <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">July 6 to August 7 2026</span>.
