    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><div><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>JOB SUMMARY:</strong>&nbsp; This position is responsible for performing firefighting and paramedic duties.</p><p><strong>MAJOR DUTIES: &nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Performs paramedic duties, including evaluation, care, and transport of critically injured or ill patients; performs emergency surgical procedures as necessary.</li><li>Responds to fire emergencies; performs fire suppression duties; searches burning buildings for survivors; extinguishes fires by the use of hoses, manual tools, ladders, axes, and chain saws; performs overhaul after the fire has been extinguished; performs salvage duties during fire suppression to preserve property.</li><li>Operates emergency vehicles, including ambulances, may operate ladder trucks, and fire apparatus.</li><li>Cleans, inspects, and maintains all emergency response vehicles and equipment; documents needed repairs.</li><li>May serve as primary Fire Apparatus Operator on fire apparatus or ladder truck. (FAO Certification maybe required.)</li><li>Cleans and maintains stations.</li><li>Prepares detailed incident and patient care reports</li><li>Maintains and expands job knowledge, skills, and abilities; engages in training and/or continuing education programs.</li><li>Maintains a state of readiness to respond to emergency situations.</li><li>Assists in and conducts inspections of buildings to ensure compliance with fire codes and conducts investigations to determine the cause and origin of fires and related incidents.</li><li>Assists with in-house and public outreach training programs.</li><li>Participates in community outreach programs to advocate fire prevention and life safety.</li><li>Performs special assignments such as installing child car safety seats and providing medical support to police tactical operations, or serving in the honor guard.</li><li>Assumes command of incidents in the absence of senior officers. &nbsp;Fills in for Captains, engine operators, and field training officers within the scope of licensure and training.</li><li>Build and maintain positive working relationships with co-workers, other City employees and the public using principles of good customer service.</li><li>Establish and maintain effective, tactful and positive working relationships with those contacted in the course of work including various cultural and ethnic groups.</li><li>Foster and contribute to a work environment that supports and exhibits honesty, diversity, integrity, trust and respect.</li><li>Performs other related duties as assigned.</li></ul><p id=\"isPasted\">&nbsp;</p><p><strong>KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION</strong>:</p><ul><li>Knowledge of fire suppression techniques, building construction, emergency vehicle operations, water supply, hazardous materials, emergency medicine, and rescue techniques.</li><li>Knowledge of emergency response vehicles and related ancillary equipment.</li><li>Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, algebra, biology, and chemistry.</li><li>Knowledge of vehicular and equipment maintenance and repair techniques.</li><li>Knowledge of pump operations, water flow, and water supply for ladder truck and engines.</li><li>Knowledge of fire and building codes.</li><li>Knowledge of fire cause investigations.</li><li>Knowledge of the geography and boundaries of the city.</li><li>Skill in the operation of computers and various software programs.</li><li>Skill in the installation of child safety seats.</li><li>Skill in oral and written communication.</li><li>Skill in demonstrating an entrepreneurial spirit by generating new, innovative ideas and better methods to accomplish tasks and complete projects.</li><li>Skill in demonstrating teamwork by contributing the overall success of the organization with flexibility, cooperation and communication.</li></ul><p id=\"isPasted\"><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: &nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with completion of specialized training in the field of work, in addition to basic skills typically associated with a high school education. &nbsp; Associates&rsquo; degree preferred.</li><li>Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one to two years.</li><li>Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver&#39;s license issued by the State of Missouri for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.</li><li>Ability to meet current requirements set forth by the National Fire Protection Association and the certification standards as established by the Missouri State Fire Marshal&#39;s Office and license requirements from the State of Missouri, Department of Health and Senior Services, Bureau of EMS.</li><li>Build and maintain tactful, effective/positive working relationship with co-workers, other city employees, and the public.</li><li>Foster and contribute to a work environment that supports and exhibits honesty, diversity, integrity, trust and respect.</li><li>Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality.</li><li>Missouri state licensed Paramedic or National Registry</li><li>MO Firefighter I and II Certified, hazmat ops</li><li>No routine facility-to-facility transfers</li><li>Traditional 24/48 Schedule</li><li>CPAT certification a plus</li><li>Possess or able to obtain valid driver&rsquo;s license with acceptable driving record.</li></ul></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>\n",
