Assesses students at the end of Reading Camp with the goal that students will demonstrate growth in reading on the Read to Achieve Test and/or on the state portfolio passages.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  </strong></p>\n<p><strong><em>KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSAs)</em></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Extensive knowledge and understanding of current principles, practices, and trends in the areas of elementary education and reading;</li>\n <li>Considerable knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; Google Apps;</li>\n <li>Critical thinking skills;</li>\n <li>Effective time management skills;</li>\n <li>Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form using a variety of communication techniques and tools to ensure the appropriate flow of information, collaborative efforts, and feedback; </li>\n <li>Ability to teach reading to elementary aged students;</li>\n <li>Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school system staff, students, parents, and the community.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE</em></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college/university;</li>\n <li>Two years of experience as an elementary education teacher;</li>\n <li>Demonstrated student outcomes in reading proficiency or an improvement of difficulties with reading development.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong><em>CERTIFICATION AND LICENSE REQUIREMENTS</em></strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in elementary education or special education.</li>\n</ul>\n<p></p>\n<p><strong>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Master’s degree in reading, elementary education, or special education;</li>\n <li>Familiarity with Wake County Public School System’s (WCPSS) K-5 assessments, curriculum, and guided reading;</li>\n <li>Experience teaching strategy groups, writing, and use of data within mCLASS.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</strong></p>\n<li>Plans and aligns instruction with the NC Standard Course of Study and Read to Achieve Reading Camp curriculum.</li>\n<li>Delivers differentiated instruction aligned with the NC Standard Course of Study and Reading Camp curriculum.</li>\n<li>Analyzes student data from Individual Participant Profile Forms and plans for small group instruction.</li>\n<li>Creates and maintains an environment conducive to learning.</li>\n<li>Interacts effectively with students, staff, parents, and administration to support and promote the Read to Achieve Summer Camp.</li>\n<li>Maintains student attendance, monitors student progress, and administers and scores portfolio passages as outlined in Read to Achieve Guidelines.</li>\n<li>Complies with all WCPSS policies and procedures governing the responsibilities, duties and conduct of instructional staff.</li>\n<li>Adheres to copyright laws and other requirements pertaining to the distribution and use of resources.</li>\n<li>Performs other related duties, as assigned.</li>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS</strong></p>\n<p>This job operates in a classroom environment and requires sitting and standing throughout the day. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, scanners, and copiers. The position, at times, must be able to come into direct contact with school system staff, students, parents, staff members of external funding agencies, and the community.
