Job summary:
The Seasonal Membership Recruiter is an energetic, community-focused ambassador responsible for representing Girl Scouts of Northeast Texas at recruitment and community events during the peak fall membership season.
This role supports membership growth by engaging families, inspiring adults to become troop leaders, and helping girls join Girl Scouts. Recruiters create welcoming, high-energy experiences that introduce families to Girl Scouts and guide them through the first steps of joining a troop.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys meeting new people, working with children and families, and serving as a positive representative of Girl Scouts in the community.
Work is primarily performed at evening and weekend events throughout the local community.
Key Responsibilities
Represent Girl Scouts in the Community
•Serve as an enthusiastic ambassador for Girl Scouts at community events, schools, and family
gatherings.
•Promote the Girl Scout experience and its impact on girls’ confidence, leadership, and life skills.
•Create welcoming and engaging interactions with families and community partners.
Host Recruitment & Invitation Events
•Represent Girl Scouts at events such as:
Back-to-School Nights
Community festivals and events
School and neighborhood tabling opportunities
Troop formation meetings
“Try Girl Scouts” invitation events
Leader information sessions
•Lead short, hands-on activities that introduce girls and families to Girl Scouts.
Recruit Girls and Adult Volunteers
•Motivate adults to become troop leaders and volunteers.
•Guide families on how to start or join a troop.
•Capture contact information and generate leads for follow-up.
•Assist families with online registration when needed.
Support Local Recruitment Efforts
•Distribute flyers and promote recruitment opportunities at schools and community locations.
•Participate in school rallies or classroom presentations when available.
•Assist in follow up with interested families after events to encourage registration.
Event Preparation & Follow-Up
•Help prepare materials and supplies for events.
•Set up and manage Girl Scout displays or tables.
•Record event attendance and leads gathered.
•Work collaboratively with membership staff to support local recruitment goals.
Schedule & Work Environment
•Seasonal role: Mid-July through the Friday before Thanksgiving
•Most work occurs evenings and weekends
•Events are typically 3 hours in length, including set-up and wrap-up
Travel within the assigned community is required (mileage reimbursement provided)
•20 hours a week

•Must have reliable transportation, hold a valid driver’s license, and meet GSNETX driving record & automobile insurance requirements.
•Performs other duties, as assigned.
•Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and the ability to prioritize workload
•Consistently reports to work on time, prepared to perform the duties of the position.
•Meets department and individual performance goals and standards
•Able to work a flexible work week, including early hours, evenings, and weekends
Qualifications
Minimum requirements:
•High school diploma or equivalency.
•Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•Experience working with children, families, volunteers, or community organizations preferred
•Bilingual (Spanish/English) a plus
•Ability to represent Girl Scouts professionally in the community
•Comfortable using basic technology for event registration and communication
•Ability to communicate with educators, current and potential members, parents/caregivers, and volunteers in person and from a distance, including in-person meetings (where permitted), email, phone, Zoom, and other digital platforms.
•Demonstrate and promote a climate of courtesy, respect, and professionalism to coworkers, the volunteers served by this council, and others with whom this job puts them in contact.
