For girls and gender diverse children and youth 6-15 years of age, YWCA’s Camp Tapawingo can turn a summer experience into a summer of unique memories. The relaxed atmosphere of a child and youth-focused setting creates the perfect environment for embarking on a camper’s journey to self-discovery, confidence and achievement. We continue to increase diversity, equity and inclusion within our services at Camp Tapawingo. We aspire to be a camp that is representative of Toronto’s diverse community and to provide a welcoming space where camp participants, families, counsellors-in-training and staff feel safe and valued. Through active diversity outreach, partnerships, and subsidies for families on lower incomes, we work to ensure that all experiences are positive and valuable ones. We strive to be a community where individuals can relax and be their best selves. YWCA’s Camp Tapawingo is currently recruiting applicants, ages 17 years old or older, for various positions. All staff live at the camp on Georgian Bay near Parry Sound and work directly with children and youth in the following areas: swimming, canoeing, arts and crafts, climbing, dance & drama, fitness, sailing, nature activities, land sports, tripping, kayaking, guitar and mountain biking. All specialty positions will start on June 12 th and all counsellor positions start on June 19 th . All positions end on August 26 th . Compensation depends on the position and experience of the applicant. For all camp positions, candidates are expected to demonstrate the following core competencies: Ability to respect and maintain participant confidentiality Understand and support the mission and beliefs of YWCA Toronto; Incorporate principles of anti-oppression and equity; Demonstrate respect, consideration and acceptance of the opinions of others while expressing their own expertise and effectively utilizing relevant resources and specialists; Consistently collaborate with team members, sharing ideas and differences openly; Be receptive to new ideas and adapt to change as necessary; Set goals, prioritize tasks and carry out responsibilities to achieve quality results; Take action to avoid or solve problems and create opportunities for positive change; Demonstrate commitment to ongoing personal and professional development. At YWCA Toronto’s Camp Tapawingo, we believe in unplugging from screens in order to connect with nature and each other. Our staff have limitations on cell phone and other electronic device use while at camp.   Current Available Positions Program Coordinator (1 position) Position Date: June 12, 2026 – September 01, 2026 SALARY: $8,320/season RESPONSIBILITIES: • Responsible for the day-to-day program delivery of the camp program • Participate in the planning and delivery of programs as assigned. • Assist in the implementation of staff training. • Provide on-going feedback and supervision to staff running programs. • Teach classes as necessary. • Act as a resource for program ideas. • Ensure that sufficient supplies are ordered and available at correct times. • Participate in the physical set-up of program areas and the cleaning and packing-up of their area at the end of the season. • Produce the transportation lists for the summer camp sessions. • Ensure that the Health and Safety Guidelines are followed in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YWCA Toronto. QUALIFICATIONS: • Must be 18 years of age or older and have completed Grade 12 or higher. • Demonstrated experience working with children in teaching, recreation, after-school programming, volunteer work, church or other related children and youth activities. • At least 2 to 3 years working at a summer overnight camp, or comparable experience gained in another context. • Demonstrated experience scheduling and organizing children, youth or recreational programs. • Where waterfront activities are designated as skill area, appropriate certificates must be held.   APPLY Online: https://ywcacamptapawingo.campbrainstaff.com/?ReturnUrl=%2fHome%2fLanding Program Worker (Full-Time Permanent position) SALARY: $61,479 (L7) annually, plus comprehensive benefits RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist in planning, implementing, and evaluating camp activities and schedules. • Ensure programs align with IDEA goals and provide diverse, inclusive experiences. • Coordinate camper arrivals/departures, special events, and outside group programming. • Prepare training materials and support staff development. • Act as lead in the Manager’s absence, living on-site during camp season and responding to emergencies including urgent health concerns, accidents and distressed campers. • Promote camp programs, recruit and help to interview seasonal staff, and prepare hiring packages. • Assist with oversight, support and development of the supervision of Activity Heads, Counsellors, and seasonal staff. • Assist in managing budgets relating to program, petty cash, and support service/equipment purchases. • Collaborate with outreach staff, external organizations, and partners (e.g., Lifesaving Society, Ontario Camps Association). QUALIFICATIONS: In-depth knowledge of an academic discipline normally acquired through an undergraduate degree in Child and Youth Work, Social Work, Education, Recreation degree or other relevant educational degree (Cases for Equivalency will be considered); 3-5 years’ of directly related experience at an overnight children’s camp at a senior staff level; Full Ontario driver’s license is required; Experience working with youth and vulnerable populations, including evidence of strong cultural competence and demonstrated commitment to working with diverse communities and work environments; Advanced knowledge of operating an overnight camp with physical, wilderness, and leadership activities for girls and gender-diverse youth; Knowledge of girls’ and gender-diverse youth programing, and access and equity issues are required ; Ability to work well within a team and independently, including demonstrating strong leadership, collaborative, team-building and problem-solving skills; Ability to pass their National Lifeguard and/or Bronze Cross; Excellent written and oral communication skills; Ability to learn and pass the Water Treatment Certificate and Food Handler’s Certificate; Proficiency in current computer applications is necessary, e.g., Microsoft Office, Teams/Zoom, Outlook.
