The Lifeguard supports the YMCA mission by maintaining a safe aquatic environment through active surveillance, emergency response, rule enforcement, and positive member engagement. This part-time role helps ensure high standards of safety, cleanliness, and member experience within the Aquatics facility. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Lifeguard position is 10-20 hours based on availability and organizational need. We offer opening, closing, and weekend shifts.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong> </strong></p>\n<p><strong>Aquatic Safety & Risk Management</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Maintain constant active surveillance of assigned zones</li>\n <li>Recognize and respond quickly to emergencies</li>\n <li>Perform water rescues, CPR/AED, and First Aid as needed</li>\n <li>Enforce pool rules and identify potential hazards</li>\n <li>Complete incident and accident reports</li>\n <li>Remain calm and focused while managing multiple responsibilities and interruptions.</li>\n <li>Meet the physical demands required to perform lifeguard rescue and response skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Facility Operations & Support</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Assist with maintaining a clean and organized pool deck</li>\n <li>Conduct safety and equipment checks</li>\n <li>Regularly monitor and record pool temperature, chlorine and pH levels based on city and state health standards</li>\n <li>Complete assigned deck duties and facility tasks</li>\n <li>Participate in mandatory lifeguard in-service trainings</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Member Engagement & Professionalism</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Provide excellent customer service</li>\n <li>Work independently and collaboratively with participants of all ages and backgrounds.</li>\n <li>Build positive relationships with members and staff</li>\n <li>Promote YMCA programs when appropriate</li>\n <li>Demonstrate YMCA core values in all interactions</li>\n <li>Demonstrate strong attention to detail, communication, and interpersonal skills.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>16 years of age or older</li>\n <li>Completion of lifeguard training</li>\n <li>Strong attention to detail required as well as excellent oral and written communication skills.</li>\n <li>Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.</li>\n <li>Ability to work with many interruptions, handling multiple tasks in a calm and responsible way, always affirming the member (e.g., scan and smile, nod, wave while answering the phone, if alone).</li>\n <li>Ability to demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, and the desire to work with all ages, especially children</li>\n <li>Must be able to show initiative in the absence of supervision</li>\n <li>Must be able to visually see all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility</li>\n <li>Must be able to adequately hear noises and distinguish distress signals </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Benefits</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>YMCA Membership</li>\n <li>Discounted Programs</li>\n <li>12% Employer Retirement Contribution</li>\n <li>Paid Sick Time</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>OUR CULTURE:</strong><strong> </strong> Our mission and core values are brought to life by our culture.
