The only way to create a good product is to understand the problem. Come join us and help product teams spend more time discovering the problem, experimenting with ideas, and evaluating solutions on apps, websites, and other products for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Be a part of the team that provides feedback on church products that can affect millions of church members around the world.
The User Experience/Product Research Intern will primarily be responsible for the support of planning, conducting, analyzing, and reporting research connected with a variety of Church products including mobile, web, and native applications; museums and visitor centers; curriculum and programs, manuals, and other materials.
A successful research intern must be able to work independently on multiple concurrent projects, either alone or as a member of one or more collaborative teams. Must be a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in good standing.
This is a 1-year part-time or 3-month full-time position.
Responsibilities
Specific research and evaluation duties may include the support of literature reviews; research design; design of surveys, interview, and observation protocols; participation in local data collection site visits; supporting interviews and observations; analysis of qualitative and quantitative data; and the support of the dissemination and application of research findings to multiple audiences including product teams, management, and General Authorities.
Contribute to projects, maintain project management documents and databases, help colleagues solve problems, and review colleagues’ plans and products.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience:
Interns should be currently enrolled in a graduate program. This can include a completed bachelor's degree or about to start working on a master’s or Ph.D. in psychology, sociology, anthropology, cognitive science, instructional design, user experience, or other related social science fields.
Experience should include but is not limited to participant interviews, observations, contextual inquiries, usability tests, focus groups, and surveys.
We are open to a wide range of experience levels to fill this position.
This is a non-managerial position and does not have any direct reports.
Paid Interns are qualified while enrolled in an educational institution and for one year following graduation. They must sign a Paid Internship Engagement Letter.
Demonstrated Skills & Abilities:
Analysis : Interpret and analyze research findings to identify patterns and trends that can be shared with others in a meaningful and understandable way.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly. This would include strong writing skills that lead to organized and well-presented findings that are appropriate for a given audience. Critical Thinking: Ability to think critically, problem-solve, modify approaches in consideration of practical concerns, and accept and adapt to sudden changes in client priorities.
Cross-Cultural Thinking: Experience working in culturally and linguistically diverse audiences and settings is a plus.
Facilitation : Engage participants in a conversation as they interact with products, websites, and applications. This may be done either in person or online.
Independent Working: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and to manage competing tasks, deadlines, requirements, and decisions.
Organization : Work with a variety of product teams to conceptualize their research questions, determine the proper research method, and plan and execute all necessary steps to provide high-quality research findings.
Technology Understanding: Skills with common communication and analysis tools like Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
Understanding : Seek to understand the perspective of others. Put yourself in their place and view their experience from their point of view.
