Job Description Data Specialist- Afterschool Program Job Summary Assists the Afterschool Program Coordinator in the management of afterschool program data including collection and management, participant registration, enrollment, attendance, annual surveys, reports. Assists with additional tasks as assigned by Coordinator in the relation to overall program planning and day to day operations of the afterschool program. Minimum Qualifications Equivalent of six months of part-time work experience (720 hours) in a field closely related to Afterschool and/or Youth Programming or 12 credit hours from an accredited school or university in a related field. Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back (Record of Arrest and Prosecution Back) program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements. Essential Functions The following duties and responsibilities are intended to be representative of the work performed by the incumbent(s) in this position and are not all-inclusive. The omission of specific duties and responsibilities will not preclude it from the position. Applicants must be prepared to demonstrate the ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation. Assists in the management of data collection and data entry with registrations, enrollment, and surveys. Provides basic quality assurance functions to ensure data integrity. Trains on the user system to ensure that the information is entered correctly. Enters data into database system. Generates reports for users from the database. Assists Program Coordinator with various functions of day-to-day operation of program including working directly with youth during program hours. Helps with the submission of periodic division and grant reporting. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) Knowledge of: Database entry and maintenance Training and development practices Data entry techniques Positive behavior support and principles Youth Development Skills and Abilities to: Follow written procedures and instructions Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Process data with attention to detail Lead and effectively communicate with diverse groups Provide excellent customer services Maintain confidentiality of participant information Working Conditions and Physical Requirements Long periods of sitting while completing repetitive work utilizing a computer. Lifting, sitting and bending. Must be able to lift to 25 pounds. Our programs are offered on site at schools located in Kearns, Magna, West Valley City, and Millcreek. Our goals are to keep kids safe, provide healthy adult role models, teach new skills, and give youth confidence in themselves through a variety of activities including academic support, dance, arts, sports, service projects throughout the community, and off-site field trips. These goals are achieved by working closely with school administration and ensuring our staff are active participants in helping to make positive changes within the communities served. What You'll Do Here As an Afterschool Data Specialist your team will work directly with youth from diverse backgrounds in a school setting to provide a safe and healthy environment by: Assisting in the management of data collection and entry received through registrations, activity participation, and surveys. Provides basic quality assurance functions to ensure data integrity. Trains on the user system to ensure that the information is entered correctly. Assisting Program Coordinator with various functions of day-to-day operation of program including working directly with youth during program hours. Helping with the submission of periodic division and grant reporting. What We Need from You We don't need a lot, but what we do need it vital: Equivalent of six months of part-time work experience (720 hours) in a field closely related to Afterschool and/or Youth Programming or 12 credit hours from an accredited school or university in a related field. (Transcripts MUST be submitted with application to receive consideration towards minimum requirements.) Must be reliable and punctual! Our youth and the Coordinator depend on you to be there for them assist and mentor and to be able to attend program. Must enjoy working with youth of all ages and motivated to guide and encourage their growth both academically and interpersonally. Strong communication skills to effectively communicate with a diverse population from different social and ethnic background. Driven to not only set and achieve goals but also to see opportunities where changes are necessary and take the initiative to work with your team to implement improvements. Must be at least 18 years old. You will gain invaluable work experience in youth development, conflict resolution, engaging appropriately with youth, youth services programs and local resources, and programming and quality assurance. Pay: $16.88 - 19.00/per hour Work Location: Various schools in Kearns, Magna, and West Valley Schedule: Monday – Friday, afternoons, 20-28 hours per week, which includes 3+ hours in program plus planning, prep time and data entry. Times and days worked varies based on location and follows a school year calendar. Summer hours are M-TH from about 9am-4pm, plus prep and planning time for about 28 hours a week for our week program. You will have about 4 weeks off in mid July- mid August.
