Description
Weyerhaeuser is hiring for a Department Manager at our Eugene, OR mill. This position is part of the Engineered Wood Products business and reports to the Mill Manager. The Department Manager is responsible for the performance of multiple operational areas of the mill including the planning and execution of production-specific actions necessary to meet operational goals. This position is the expert for safety, operations, equipment, and production reliability for the department assigned. This individual provides leadership, support & resources to shift production supervisors & teams to ensure consistent, safe & reliable operation of the equipment. They work with the mill leadership team and hourly workforce to provide appropriate prioritization and planning to meet safety, quality and production goals. This role is a key leader at the mill, provides direction and input, and executes at a strategic level.
The Department Manager champions best practices to improve unit performance and drives root cause analysis of failures in their area. Accountable for managing projects and solving problems of the highest complexity (e.g., capital projects). Responsible for budgeting, cost benchmarking and control, planning, scheduling and other high-level managerial tasks. related documentation. Accountable for department budget cost effectiveness.
Responsible for the development and training of associates, performance reviews, coaching, and ensuring accountability.
Contribute toward strategic planning process to include providing input, direction and solutions to issues.
Builds positive relationships with operations and maintenance personnel to continuously improve mill operations.
As necessary, own or contribute to other mill functions, such as safety or environmental initiatives.
Ensure safety leadership, systems, behaviors, trainings, housekeeping, and processes are in place and adhered to, that result in an injury free workplace.
Drive excellence in Reliability at a world-class level.
Ensure proper and timely implementation of facility safety & environmental plans and procedures.
Partner with maintenance teams to plan & coordinate for effectives PM’s, equipment changes, capital projects, and effective use of resources.
Build leadership capacity in front line leaders with continued development of talent and bench strength in team members.
Provide strategic leadership for planning and execution at a department level and ensure alignment with overall mill strategies.
Develop department level annual plan that demonstrates improvement in Operational Excellence, leveraging strength in teams, budget management, recovery, and process reliability improvements.
Promote an innovative culture drives positive change in safety, efficiency, cost, reliability, recovery, and retention.
Implement cross-business best manufacturing practices.
Conducts root cause failure analysis for qualifying events in their area of responsibility & implements processes and/or standards to prevent reoccurrence.
Ensures accountability of team members for performance management and improvement.
Participate as an active member of the mill’s leadership team to actively support unit and business goals and objectives and establish and model organizational behavior.
Own and/or contribute to other mill functions, such as safety & continuous improvement initiatives as required.

Five (5) years of experience in a management level role in an industrial or manufacturing environment Previous experience in a key leadership or front-line leader role in an industrial / manufacturing environment. Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of %2498,800-%24148,200 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
