Responsible for performing routine patrol duties, including but not limited to patrolling assigned areas of the City, responding to emergency calls and/or public calls for assistance, investigating criminal incidents, apprehending and arresting suspects and violent persons, securing crime scenes, issuing traffic citations/summonses, seizing property and/or criminal evidence, maintaining public order, interrogating suspects and transporting prisoners.&nbsp;This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.<br />\n<br />\n<strong><u>Minimum Training and Experience:</u></strong><br />\n<br />\nRequires High School graduation or GED.</p>\n\n<p>The minimum age requirement is 21.</p>\n\n<p><strong><u>Special Certifications and Licenses:</u></strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Valid South Carolina Driver&rsquo;s License</li>\n</ul>\n\n<p><strong><u>Desirable Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</u></strong></p>\n\n<ul>\n\t<li>Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine proper course of action.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to complete the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy&rsquo;s Physical Ability Test (PAT).</li>\n\t<li>Ability to cope with situations firmly, courteously, tactfully, and with respect for the rights of others.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to react quickly and calmly under emergency conditions.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to develop skill in the use and care of firearms.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to write and speak effectively.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to deal with people beyond giving and receiving instructions. Must be adaptable to performing under stress when confronted with emergency situations or tight deadlines.</li>\n\t<li>Ability to maintain positive customer-focused relationships with co-workers, supervisors, agencies, the general public, and all other internal and external customers. Personally demonstrates appropriate customer service skills.</li>\n\t<li>Work is performed onsite.
