    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Crossing Guard </span></p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Salary:</span> </span>$16.50 hourly. </p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Status:  </span>Non-Exempt </span>/ Timesheet required.  </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Annual Days:</span> 190</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>General Purpose:</span></span><span> The School Crossing Guard is responsible for assisting school children crossing major traffic thoroughfares in designated school zones.</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Essential Duties and Responsibilities: </span></span><span> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Assists children at street crossing zones</li>\n<li>Directs children to crossing zones and ensures traffic is stopped in order to allow children to cross the street</li>\n<li>Assists in maintaining a safe atmosphere for school children in and around school crossing zones</li>\n<li>Instructs the children on safe conduct when crossing in a school zone</li>\n<li>Records and reports vehicles driving recklessly and at high rates of speed</li>\n<li>Administers basic first aid to injured pedestrians </li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Minimum Requirements:</span></span><span>   </span><span> </span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>High school diploma or G.E.D. preferred.</li>\n<li>Reads and writes and follows oral and written instructions.</li>\n<li>Ability to analyze situations quickly and objectively and to determine the proper course of action</li>\n<li>Ability to follow and understand oral and written instructions</li>\n<li>Ability to deal with others firmly, courteously, tactfully and with respect</li>\n<li>Ability to establish friendly relationships with youth and parents</li>\n<li>Ability to remain calm and professional in stressful situations</li>\n<li>Knowledge of safety rules which can be taught to young pedestrian</li>\n<li>Knowledge of school procedures when dealing with uncooperative students.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Experience:</span></span><span>  </span><span> </span></p>\n<p><span>Job requires no previous experience.  Training will be provided.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><span>Hours generally fall within the following parameters:</span></span></p>\n<p>Monday - Friday: 7:00 - 8:15 A.M., Monday - Thursday: 2:45 - 4:00 P.M., and Friday: 12:45 - 2:00 P.M.</p>\n<p>(Hours/Shifts subject to change based on Facility Manager, school requirements, and applicant availability)</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Benefits: </span></p>\n<p>• Paid time off</p>\n<p>• Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) a lifetime monthly benefit in retirement. </p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">DISCLAIMERS</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span>You are required to disclose relevant issues related to criminal history, employment history, and licensure history in order to apply.</span></li>\n<li>All employees must submit to and pass a CBI / FBI fingerprint background check as a condition of employment.<span> </span></li>\n<li><span>The Vanguard School is subject to all federal and state laws and constitutional provisions prohibiting discrimination on the basis of disability, race, creed, color, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, or ancestry in its programs and activities.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul></ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>Applicants who upload a copy of their transcripts or certifications to their application may choose to redact any dates included on the transcripts or certifications, including date of birth and dates of attendance/graduation/completion.
