This position is onsite and located in Okinawa, Japan.<br><br></span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES: </span><br><em>Essential Job Functions:</em></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Inpatient Care for Acute Psychiatric and Intermediate Units.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Assist in initial intake assessments and triage interview.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Assist in counseling and orient patients to the unit procedures and policies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Perform ward searches.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Monitor use of dangerous items.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Answer telephone calls and relay pertinent information to providers if required.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Assist in a variety of treatment modalities including but not limited to biofeedback, stress management, and group therapy.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Coordinate and perform routine training in prevention and management of assaultive behavior.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Assist with patient education.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Perform routine ward procedures for admission, discharges, and patient transfers.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Monitor patient safety; be able to do physical restraint procedures such as applying manual and mechanical restraints.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Manage agitated patients; identify and report symptoms of homicidal or suicidal patient; perform line of sight one-on-one observations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Understand the rules of confidentiality as applies to patient and health care provider during all aspects of care; instruct personnel in psychiatric patient rights.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Outpatient Care</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Perform ongoing risk assessment; assist in maintaining therapeutic milieu.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Transcribe physician’s orders.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Foster a therapeutic relationship with psychiatric patients; observe patient progress during treatment.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Organize and facilitate patient groups and activities.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Escort patients safely on and off the unit, know the patient management for elopement risks; take patients out on field trips.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Monitor patient safety; be able to do physical restraint procedures such as applying manual and mechanical restraints.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Manage agitated patients; identify and report symptoms of homicidal or suicidal patient; perform line of sight one-on-one observations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Maintain all records required on patients to include data entry and retrieval on CHCS and CIS computer systems.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Perform a range of diagnostic support duties which include but is not limited to drawing blood for lab studies; collect and label specimens; take vital signs; and assist the doctor in a variety of diagnostic examinations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Understand the rules of confidentiality as applied to patient and health care provider during all aspects of care; instruct personnel in psychiatric patient rights.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Respond to emergency situations within area of competence and initiate appropriate action and documentation (restraint calls, fire calls, and disaster situations).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Monitor and discontinue IV fluids as directed by government supervisor if certified.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Run the outpatient front desk areas; assist patients with questions and information; offer courteous and attentive assistance.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Follow the Command’s mission and values of Service, Professionalism, Teamwork, Respect, and Compassion</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Schedule patient appointments through the CHCS computer system. Coordinate and assist the Primary Care Provider in contacting patients who miss appointments.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Ensure that all records are properly maintained, constructed, and secured in a controlled access area</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Dispose of the Secondary Convenience Record after maintaining for three years.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Prepare and pull all outpatient records for scheduled appointments.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Perform End of Day processing in accordance with local instructions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Perform psychiatric testing/screening evaluations if certified and as directed by government supervisor</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><br></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</span></span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Graduation from an accredited Psychiatric Technician Program; or completion of an equivalent education and experience that meets the requirement of the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians<br>OR<br>Completion of education and experience as a corpsman in the United States military and proof of having completed an Armed Forces course involving neuropsychiatric nursing and an Armed Forces or civilian course from an accredited school in the care of the developmentally disabled client.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Possess a National Certification as a Psychiatric Technician from the American Association of Psychiatric Technicians.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Possess a minimum of one year of experience as a psychiatric technician within the last 2 years.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Provide two letters of recommendation written within the preceding two years from a manager, director, or direct supervisor of a Mental Health Clinic attesting to the HCW’s applicable clinical skills. </span>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">Letters shall attest to the HCW’s communication skills and ability to relate to patients as well as professional and other inter-personal skills among staff members and must include: name, title, phone number, date of reference, address and signature of the individual providing the recommendation.</span><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"><br></span></li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Min.
