Other duties may be assigned.</p><p><strong>Safety</strong></p><ul><li>Assist with OSHA recordkeeping and reporting requirements.</li><li>Coordinate with Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Manager on development and implementation of health and safety procedures and policies.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide OSHA/EPA/DOT required training for new employee orientation, continual education, and required compliance programs.</li><li>Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace, conduct and coordinate on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices. Provide advice and counseling for all compliance regulations.</li><li>Report, compile and investigate all incidents. Review incident reports to provide corrective and preventative actions. Leads the team in the investigation.</li><li>Coaches onsite staff in accident investigation, root cause analysis, problem solving, implementing countermeasures and sustainment.&nbsp;</li><li>Follows up on safety action items. &nbsp;</li><li>Schedule and manage Safety Committee meetings.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Continuous Improvement&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Support continuous improvement initiatives to ensure the site meets best practice standards to enable a PDCA culture.&nbsp;</li><li>Provide assistance as needed to support productivity, material control, product quality, on-time delivery, and customer service goals.</li></ul><p><strong>&nbsp;</strong><strong>Core Competencies Required</strong></p><ul><li>Interpersonal Skills&mdash;the individual maintains confidentiality, remains open to others&rsquo; ideas, and exhibits willingness to try new things.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, time management and planning skills.</li><li>Action and hands-on orientated focus for driving improvement and solving root cause problems in CI and EHS.</li><li>Ability to communicate effectively across mediums, audiences, and situations. Includes internal and external audiences, and higher and lower company positions. &nbsp;Includes training and instruction.</li><li>Strong knowledge of Excel, and strong knowledge of Word, Power Point, Project, and other applicable tools.</li><li>EH&amp;S experience, preferably at a corrugated business, with knowledge of regulatory requirements.</li><li>Experience in conducting audits and implementation of EH&amp;S managements systems.</li><li>Must have good oral and written communication skills as well as good listening skills.</li><li>Must be very detailed in recordkeeping.</li></ul><p><strong>SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>No direct reports.</li></ul><p><strong>EDUCATION</strong></p><ul type=\"disc\"><li>Minimum of high school diploma or GED.&nbsp;</li><li>Minimum of 30 OSHA Training for General Industry.</li><li>Understanding and knowledge of industrial safety and environmental in a working environment.</li><li>Preferred &ndash; Six Sigma Green Belt or similar LEAN/Continuous Improvement Certification.</li><li>Preferred - ISO 9001 Certifications.</li><li>Preferred &ndash; Bachelor degree in occupational health &amp; safety or similar field.</li><li>Preferred &ndash; Three year of experience in safety and/or human resources in a manufacturing environment and an associate degree or greater.</li></ul><p>As part of the Opus team, you&rsquo;ll never be treated like just a number.
