The physical therapist (PT) observes, analyzes, and assesses motor dysfunction of children served by the CAIU. Based on evaluation procedures, the PT makes recommendations to ameliorate motor dysfunction that may be impacting the child&#39;s performance. Recommendations are based on physical therapy evaluation and interdisciplinary team development of an educational or service plan. The PT communicates child&#39;s needs and coordinates programming with school personnel, educators, parents/guardians, the student, other agencies, and private practitioners as necessary. The PT is responsible for adhering to all federal and state regulations and CAIU policies and procedures.</p>\r\n\r\n<p><strong>Performance Responsibilities:&nbsp;</strong></p>\r\n\r\n<p>1. Provide individual evaluation for children with motor and sensory needs.<br />\r\n2. Participate, in accordance with regulation and CAIU procedures, in the multidisciplinary evaluation /re-evaluation process.<br />\r\n3. Assist in the development of goals, objectives, and recommendations as a part of the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or other service plan.<br />\r\n4. Provide:<br />\r\nA. Individual direct and/or support services to program personnel, children, and teachers.<br />\r\nB. Individual consultation for children with specific functional issues.<br />\r\nC. Treatment for children who qualify for special educations and have needs requiring the skills of a physical therapist within the scope of the CAIU educational, school districts, and community agency programs.<br />\r\n5. Participate in team meetings as appropriate.<br />\r\n6. Obtain physician referral for physical therapy services when appropriate.<br />\r\n7. Prepare reports, evaluations, and other documentation in conformance with regulation and CAIU policy and as necessary to support the recommendations and services provided.<br />\r\n8. Work closely with the CAIU educational team to provide the most efficient and effective delivery of services.<br />\r\n9. Assist in the identification of equipment needs, including the ordering and distribution of adaptive equipment.<br />\r\n10. Design, construct, and adapt classroom equipment and related devices, including modification of chairs, splint fabrication, feeding and/or other self-help devices, as well as communication systems consultation.<br />\r\n11. Organize, maintain, and inventory equipment in the treatment room and storage areas.<br />\r\n12. Maintain procedural safeguards related to Due Process procedures, IEP development, and laws of confidentiality in accordance with state and federal regulations.<br />\r\n13. Participate in long-range planning of physical therapy services within the CAIU.<br />\r\n14. Develop and submit to the Supervisor, Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy, a monthly schedule and routine documentation (i.e., weekly time logs, billing information, etc.) of services provided.<br />\r\n15. Meet with the Supervisor on a regular basis to review physical therapy services.<br />\r\n16. Complete required records and reports to CAIU and American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) professional standards and within stated timelines; adhere to all pertinent federal and state regulations, CAIU policies and procedures, APTA standards of practice, and ethical conduct of the physical therapy profession.<br />\r\n17. Complete a professional development plan in accordance with staff development procedures, as well as successfully complete the requirements of the plan.<br />\r\n18. Provide in-service training to CAIU staff and participate in program exchanges.<br />\r\n19. Attend conferences and in-services to augment professional development.<br />\r\n20. Direct the activities of an assigned Physical Therapist Assistant, if assigned.<br />\r\n21. Provide clinical supervision for physical therapy students performing clinical internships within the CAIU.<br />\r\n22.
