Description Wood is recruiting for an Senior Electrical Designer for our Minerals & Metals (M&M) business focusing on supporting our global clients to deliver mining projects. This opportunity has the flexibility to be located at any of our Wood Canada Mining offices in Vancouver BC, Trail BC, Saskatoon SK or Burlington Ont. The Role Reporting to the Electrical, Instrumentation and Controls Department Manager, and working alongside other team members locally and across the country, you will have the opportunity to provide design and technical support for the layout, design and specification of electrical systems for industrial plants and related infrastructure support for a wide variety of projects. Responsibilities Typical responsibilities Complete Design and Drafting for Electrical packages including, but not limited to, cable tray layouts, lighting and grounding, power layouts, equipment lists, single line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, 3D modelling. Implement project CAD procedures and guidelines. Design calculations which include voltage drop, lighting levels, cable tray fill and heat trace wattage. Populate electrical load and cable lists.   Check layouts, review overall presentation, and maintain quality control of all designs and packages presented. Co-ordination of drawing packages for issue and prepare issue folders for electronic files.  Review project documents for scope, presentation and technical accuracy  Occasionally review vendor documents Establish good working relationships and communicate with area leads, department managers, clients and other engineering disciplines to coordinate, ensuring the compatibility of design. Provide guidance to more junior designers on the project(s) Occasional site visits to collect data as required for projects. Qualifications What makes you remarkable? Minimum 15 years' experience in electrical design for mining, metallurgical or heavy industrial projects from prefeasibility to detailed engineering  Knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code and how to apply it in designs. Proven expertise using  AVEVA E3D. Everyday use of Microsoft Word and Excel. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Team player, but also able to work independently and take responsibility. Able to work efficiently and effectively when managing multiple tasks in a highly scheduled environment. Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required. Desirable: Experience with lighting design/calculation software for industrial facilities is beneficial, preferably DIALux and/or AGi32. Registered as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) with the applicable organization in your jurisdiction is preferred.
