PURPOSE AND SCOPE:<br><br>In keeping with Shields Health Care commitment to excellence, the PET technologist will provide a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups, while maintaining a fast-paced, multi-tasked oriented clinical environment.<br><br>B. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:<br><br>1.) Follow all Shields Health Care Group policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety at all times.<br>2.) Follow rules and regulations established by the NRC, state regulatory agencies, and JCAHO.<br>3.) Inform the patient of all aspects of their exam to their level of understanding.<br>4.) Operate PET equipment to produce images and measure concentrations of Radioactive Isotopes in specific body areas and body products.<br>5.) Performs all hot lab responsibilities.<br>6.) Ensure patient is cleared of all contraindications and hazards.<br>7.) Accurately position the patient and ensure their comfort.<br>8.) Maintain visual and verbal contact with the patient during the exam.<br>9.) Complete all forms pertaining to patient&rsquo;s exam.<br>10.) Record patient data to Tech Data Entry program.<br>11.) Provide and issue films when appropriate.<br>12.) Forward PET related data to Radiologist upon completion of exam.<br>13.) Refilm cases as time allows<br>14.) Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.<br>15.) Clean and re-supply equipment and rooms as needed.<br><br>C.EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:<br><br>Must possess a state license for the state(s) in which he/she is employed to work.<br>Must be certified in CPR<br>Must be registered by the ARRT and/or NMTCB.<br><br>D.EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:<br><br>A minimum of one-year prior nuclear medicine experience is required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must be proficient in starting IVs.<br><br>E.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:<br><br>Must be able to sit and utilize a computer for extended periods of time. Must be able to assist patients with mobility difficulties. Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of twenty-five pounds.<br><br>F.INTERNAL/EXTERNAL INTERACIONS:<br><br>Extensive interactions with all customer groups, including patients, families, referring community and other SHC employees. Will also have regular interactions with contractors, vendors, and medical transport personnel.<br><br>NOTE: It is not intended that this Job Description include all details of the work functions of this position.
