The primary objective of the bartender is to provide exceptional service, to encourage guests to return. </span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">SCOPE</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Under the directive of the Restaurant Supervisor or Bar Supervisor, the Bartender is expected to serve guests the highest quality beverages utilizing outstanding mixologist skills in a timely manner.</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">RESPONSIBILITIES</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Always promotes him/herself in keeping with the high standards of appearance and conduct.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Takes a personal interest in ensuring the 5 diamond AAA standards are always sought after and maintained and exceeded.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Responsible for advising immediately, the Restaurant Manager or any other appropriate department head, anything which is considered to be a health or safety hazard.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Be knowledgeable of the hotel facts, facilities, and amenities eg. the gym, kids club, teen lounge and business center. Encompassing the product available within the Montrose and Ocean Hotels Group<span style=\"color: #222222\">.</span></span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must be able to multitask.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must be able to take food and beverages orders if necessary.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must be able to take beverage orders from colleagues. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must prepare and serve beverages consistently with the company issued drink recipes.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Be acquainted with the names of regular guests.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the register system (where applicable).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Assist with planning and presenting of bar menus. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Accept guest payment, process credit card charges and make change (where applicable).</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish bar snacks for bar patrons.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Maintain bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Ensure all glasses are washed, sanitised and shined daily.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Clear, clean and reset tables in the bar area.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Assess customer needs and preferences while making specific recommendations and answering questions regarding food, snacks and beverages.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Serve food, snacks and drinks to customers in a friendly and professional manner.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the lounge and bar including counters, sinks, utensils, shelves and storage areas.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Receive and serve food orders to guests. ( where applicable)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Monitor operating supplies, equipment and reduce spoilage and wastage.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the supervisor on duty.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Assist the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Thank guests for their visit and invite them to return.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Attend all scheduled employee meetings and offer any suggestions for improvement.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must have the ability to up-sell </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Provide guidance to guests on resort activities, dining options and general resort and regional information.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Should be able to observe when a customer has had too much alcohol and if required refuse any further serving in a polite way.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of food and beverage products, menus and promotions.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for Mixing beverages and serving guests. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must operate in full compliance with Ocean Hotels and AAA standards.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Mix and prepare beverages as ordered and in compliance with hotel standard drink recipes.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Comply with all food and beverage and health and safety regulations.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">To attend and participate in any training programs as directed by the HR team and Restaurant Manager.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">To attend Fire/ Emergency Training Program and to ensure that the hotel's and department's fire and emergency procedures are understood.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">To comply with all hotel procedures and protocols related to COVID 19 and infectious diseases.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">As flow of business dictates you will be asked to work overtime or be given additional responsibilities through the shift. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">To thoroughly review and understand the information contained within the Ocean Hotels Employee handbook since as an employee of Ocean Hotels Barbados, you are governed by the rules and stipulations contained within.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">To actively participate in an evaluation of your performance by means of an appraisal with your leadership team. Advising the security team of such.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\">KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES</span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Knowledge</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">The Bartender must have proficient knowledge in the following areas:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must be efficient in cash handling procedures and operation of a point-of-sale system.(where applicable)</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">At least three years of bartending experience in a high-volume bar or restaurant.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Level 3 or above Caribbean Vocational Qualification in Bartending and Mixology</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">A vast knowledge in alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Need to have a good understanding of Food &amp; Beverage safety laws and best practices. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Knowledge of Food &amp; Beverage hygiene.   </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Inspection procedures for food and beverage. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Knowledge of Bar Equipment and its usage.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Knowledge of the products that are served.</span></li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Knowledge of Drink Recipes. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Understand, speak, read and write English at CXC level or equivalent.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Basic knowledge of food presentation, preparation and handling. </span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px; font-weight: bold\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">Skills</span></span></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">The Bartender must demonstrate the following skills:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Effective verbal and listening communications skills.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Effective written communications skills.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Basic computer skills. </span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: Lato, sans-serif; font-size: 15px\">Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds.
