More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families are living in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.</p><p><strong>Program Overview</strong></p><p>Beacon Community Centers: CAMBA administers services at 4 Beacon Community Centers across Brooklyn. All Beacon programs are run in partnership with other community organizations to provide education, recreation, cultural activities, health information and screenings, youth leadership and social services to the neighborhood&#8217;s students, their families, and other residents. Activities and services are available after school, evenings and on weekends.</p><p><strong>Position: Expert Activity Specialist</strong></p><p><strong>Reports To: Assistant Program Manager&#160;&#160;&#160;</strong></p><p><strong>Location: 1957 Nostrand Avenue, Brooklyn, NY 11210</strong></p><p></p><p><strong><u>What The Expert Activity Specialist Does:</u></strong></p><p>The person filling this position is expected, under general direction, to: (1) research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans; and (2) provide individual and group instructions facilitating youth in academic and nonacademic subjects; including the following:&#160;</p><ul><li>Maintain professional relationships with clients and client confidentiality.</li><li>Practice Universal Precautions/Standard Protocol &amp; Procedures.</li><li>Comply with any and all Federal, State, City and CAMBA security and privacy polices intended to protect the security and privacy of individually identifiable health information.</li><li>Ensure the safety and security of each program participant by following all CAMBA after-school protocols and procedures including but not limited to procedures and protocols regarding safety, supervision, accident and incident reporting.</li><li>Create and lead weekly activities and plan a culminating event in area of specialization, as listed on the program schedule.</li><li>Collaborate with other Program Specialists, after-school program staff, Program Director and Program Partners to plan and implement Club Showcases, holiday performances and other program wide events.</li><li>Research new materials and methods of instruction to keep curriculum current and relevant.</li><li>Design daily lesson plans to meet core course objectives.</li><li>Assess participants' strengths in order to build upon them.</li><li>Prepare and distribute instructional materials for classroom use.</li><li>Provide individual and group instruction/facilitation on the subject(s) of the course.</li><li>Manage classrooms and/or small groups effectively to maximize client learning.</li><li>Document client progress on daily/weekly/monthly/semester/academic year bases.</li><li>Research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans.</li><li>Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents about program issues.</li><li>Participate in administrative and staff meetings as requested.</li><li>Provide all required information for weekly/monthly/quarterly/semester/annual reports to CAMBA management and/or to funders.</li><li>May serve as program staff substitute, as needed.</li><li>Tasks may be modified, expanded and/or assigned over a period of time.</li></ul><p><strong><u>Minimum Education/Experience Required:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor&#8217;s Degree (B.A.) and/or expert in their field (10+ years of experience).</li></ul><p></p><p><strong><u>Other Requirements:</u></strong></p><ul><li>Must obtain Dept. of Health, Dept. of Education fingerprint clearance; doctor's note certifying good health; proof of negative results from TB test; Staff Exclusion List (SEL) clearance and State Central Registry (SCR) clearance.</li><li>Ability to maintain State Central Registry (SCR) clearance and fingerprint clearance throughout the duration of employment.</li><li>Ability to adapt to the culture and environment of a public school</li><li>After school programs operate Monday thru Friday for 3 hours directly after day school dismissal.</li><li>Must be available to work Holiday Program Days (Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Columbus Day, Veteran&#8217;s Day, Spring Recess days, Chancellor&#8217;s Day).</li></ul><p><strong>Compensation</strong>: $53.05 hourly&#160;</p><p><strong>Status: </strong>Part-time (5 hours per week)<br><strong>Benefits</strong>: CAMBA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, dental insurance, 403(b) retirement plan with employer match, paid time off (vacation, personal, and sick time), and paid holidays.<br>&#160;</p><p>CAMBA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
