Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Intervention Manager plays a vital role in fostering a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment across a 6th–12th grade campus. This position is responsible for supporting Tier 1 and Tier 2 behavioral systems, promoting student accountability, and building strong relationships with students, families, and staff to ensure a safe and respectful school culture. The Intervention Manager will also be well-versed in practicing and implementing restorative practices to support and incorporate an MTSS framework. The Intervention Manager will serve as a positive role model for students, families and fellow team members. This role requires active movement throughout the campus, frequent interaction with students, and the ability to respond quickly to dynamic situations. The Intervention Manager is a visible presence and a key contributor to maintaining a structured, supportive, and engaging school environment for all students. This is a full-time, non-exempt, non-year round position.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Under the supervision of the Chief of Schools, the ideal candidate will ensure student safety by performing the following duties:
Implement and support Tier 1 and Tier 2 behavior interventions aligned with the school’s discipline framework, including monitoring student behavior data and responding proactively to trends
Provide real-time de-escalation support to students experiencing emotional or behavioral challenges, utilizing restorative practices and conflict resolution strategies
Conduct consistent and thorough uniform checks to ensure all students meet school dress code expectations, addressing non-compliance with clarity and consistency.
Initiate and maintain regular communication with families, including making phone calls and coordinating meetings to address behavioral concerns, share progress, and collaborate on solutions
Facilitate student conferences and lead 1:1 behavior coaching sessions, including goal setting, progress monitoring, and skill-building in areas such as self-regulation and decision-making
Supervise students throughout the campus during key times (arrival, passing periods, lunch, dismissal, and school events) to ensure safety and reinforce expectations
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and administrators to develop and implement behavior support plans for individual students and groups
Support restorative practices such as mediations, re-entry meetings, and reflection processes following behavioral incidents
Maintain accurate and timely documentation of behavioral incidents, interventions, and family communication
Intervene when there is student to student conflict that may lead to a physical altercation. It is an expectation to step in and break up a fight from happening or occurring
Assist with organizing and implementing school-wide culture initiatives, incentives, and recognition programs that reinforce positive behavior
Provide professional support and guidance to staff on classroom management strategies and effective responses to student behavior
Participate in crisis response as needed, ensuring student safety and adherence to school protocols
Monitor and support common areas (hallways, restrooms, outdoor spaces) to maintain a safe and orderly environment
Model and reinforce the school’s core values, expectations, and commitment to fairness
Serve on SART Team to include home visits and follow up on individual student intervention plans
Support parent engagement across the school; work collaboratively with Sr. Director of Parent & Community Outreach to actively bring more parents on campus, and train parent volunteers
Participate in all health and wellness programs
Support Parent Events and workshops to include Monthly Parent Town Hall, Coffee with Principal, Parent College Awareness Workshops, and new events to recruit and engage more families
Other duties as assigned
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Education and Experience
High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s degree preferred
Strong organizational skills with the ability to create and maintain accurate records
Demonstrated success working with students from educationally underserved areas.
Hold current CPR & First Aid Certification or willing to complete course within first 30 days of employment
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Experience working with middle and/or high school students in a school or youth development setting.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in working with diverse student populations and families.
Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate challenging situations.
Familiarity with restorative practices, PBIS, or other behavior support frameworks is highly preferred.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail in documentation and follow-through.
Commitment to fostering a positive, equitable, and student-centered school culture.
Exceptional relationship building skills and the ability to communicate clearly to multiple stakeholders
A strong belief that all students can succeed
A do-whatever-it takes attitude including a willingness to work occasionally on the weekend or in the evening
An exceptional ability to respond well to feedback and implement it immediately
A strong ethical base and self-awareness
Knowledge of safety rules and procedures to be observed by students
Ability to supervise and direct students in a friendly, unemotional manner
Knowledge of adolescent development and problems
Vocabulary and usage of terms common to youth in the area served by the school
Knowledge of controlled substances and their effect upon behavior
Knowledge of customs and activities indicative of youth groups
Knowledge of principles of organization and administration including procedures, systems and equipment
Knowledge of and competency with MS Office products such as MS Word, Excel and Outlook
Ability to interpret and enforce rules and regulations according to varying situations
Ability to write complete and concise reports
Ability to handle a variety of tasks and set priorities among them for timely completion
Ability to perform well under pressure
Ability to resolve matters with discretion and diplomacy
School security experience is preferred but relevant experience in these other fields of security may be considered
Bilingual Spanish preferred
