Description Project: Canadian Royalties Inc. Location: Northern Quebec (100km south of Deception Bay, 1800km north of Montreal, Canada) Rotation : 14 days on, 14 days off Shift work : 12 hours Travel: Flights to and from Val d'Or, Montreal, Quebec City, Nunavik and La Grande Rivière. Requirements: FMTM (Formation Modulaire du Québec) or equivalent (Ontario Underground Hard Rock Mining Common Core) Valid driver's license General Explosives Permit Drug screening Medical exam Job Summary: The primary role of the Supervisor is to supervise a mining crew on a day-to-day basis and ensure that the tasks assigned by the Site Superintendent are completed as per instructions. The Supervisor to direct and coordinate the activities and tasks of the work crew, ensuring that all necessary resources are available, and that each member of the crew is working safely. Responsibilities General: Carry out all directives of management. Read and sign all log books daily Ensure all employees have the knowledge to work safely and efficiently by giving all employees job specific instructions on a daily basis and monitor progress Assist in work scheduling and planning. Be aware of any changes of conditions in the workplace Ensure all equipment is in good repair, have broken equipment scheduled for repair and make equipment available to mechanics when it is scheduled for preventative maintenance Fill out all progress reports or accident/incident reports that happen during their shift Ensure that all employees are properly trained to operate the equipment they will be using. If not, they will train them or arrange for training Ensure employee safety through compliance with all safety and mine regulations, as well as company policy and regulations. Conduct daily pre-shift meetings to ensure employees are informed of safety and production concerns Record in the shifter’s log book any unsafe conditions or equipment requiring repairs Understand, promote and operate by overall company vision and values, goals, objectives and strategies Communicate routinely and effectively with the Mine Manager and other supervisory personnel as required Must be able to comprehend written and verbal instructions as required to perform their duties in a safe and efficient manner Must be able to follow proper procedure to ensure safety and to control equipment damage The duties and responsibilities listed above are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive Health and Safety: Having the authority and responsibility to maintain a safe and efficient working environment Following Redpath Canada Limited health and safety standards and systems, including the Five Point Safety System and the Cardinal Rules, and reporting any unsafe acts or conditions Ability to participate and complete incident / accident investigations and take corrective action to prevent injury and / or re-occurrence Responsible to ensure proper use and maintenance of personal protective equipment. Ensure that workers are qualified and capable of performing the assigned work safely Must have knowledge of the WHMIS legislation and know how to effectively use an MSDS sheet. Work in accordance with local legislation Qualifications Education: High School diploma or equivalent Post-Secondary education in a mining related discipline or equivalent experience Work Experience: Minimum of 10 years hard rock experience with 5 years at the Supervisory level Specific Requirements: Ontario Hard Rock Underground Common Core – Full Basic (or another provincial equivalent) Ontario Basic Underground Hard Rock Front Line Supervisor (or another provincial equivalent) First Aid Knowledge Required Familiar with Occupational Health & Safety and Mines Regulations Ability to lead through example Requires strong interpersonal, leadership and communication skills Requires basic computer skills Working knowledge of all production equipment Ability to multi task and work effectively Ability to work efficiently as part of a team as well as independently Company In 1962, Jim Redpath’s vision for the company was much the same as it is today; offering a high level of service to the mining industry, which exceeds current standards and provides challenge for its employees.
