company As a recognized Hemophilia Treatment Center and a Center of Excellence, the Washington Institute for Coagulation d/b/a Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD), is committed to the wellbeing of patients with an inherited bleeding disorder across the State of Washington, neighboring states, and Alaska. Our staff is an ensemble of dedicated healthcare professionals and support personnel that are striving to ease the burden that bleeding disorders have placed upon our patients. role The Washington Center for Bleeding Disorders (WACBD) is an internationally recognized Hemophilia Treatment Center (HTC) and a Center of Excellence, committed to providing compassionate, expert-level healthcare services to patients with inherited bleeding disorders across the State of Washington, neighboring states, and Alaska. WACBD consists of a multi-disciplinary care team of physicians, a nurse practitioner, clinical nurse specialists, pharmacists, a social worker, physical therapists, medical assistants, research coordinators and billing support. The multi-disciplinary care team at WACBD has the unique opportunity to work together to provide patient-specific healthcare services as well as fostering care, learning, and research in the bleeding disorders population. We are a close-knit organization that offers comprehensive care and support to our patients in several ways. Our HTC collaborates with other Mountain States’ HTCs in the western United States (and across the nation) for research studies, professional meetings, remote and in-person continuing educational courses, mentorship, and much more to share evidence-based treatment methods that are discipline-specific. In parallel with providing clinical care services, we actively conduct research into how to treat and improve medical issues that persons living with bleeding disorders face daily. We periodically travel across the state of Washington for Outreach Clinics to provide clinical services and/or home visits to patients who live in distant or rural areas. We have a rare opening for an additional physical therapist to join our team. The position is a unique opportunity for the physical therapist to practice and serve in a primary care role, leveraging their musculoskeletal differential diagnostic skills and using diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasonography (MSKUS) to inform clinical and medical management. The position offers the opportunity to assess and treat patients as a vital part of their comprehensive annual visits; for acute and chronic conditions/injuries; as part of research studies; for pre and post-surgical interventions, in conjunction with community PTs; and for remote and in-person consultations or home assessments. The successful candidate will receive on-the-job training for this specialized position. This training will include (but is not limited to) bleeding disorders 101, research training, within-department PT specific training and mentorship, point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound, regional/national educational courses, and advanced sponsored specialty training. Duties include but are not limited to providing physical therapy assessments, plans and interventions, administering manual therapy and/or therapeutic exercises/activities/modalities, evaluating need for durable medical equipment (DME), orthoses and adaptive equipment, practicing point-of-care musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS), contributing to research studies and educational activities, instructing families in PT management, writing evaluations, progress notes and home programs, maintaining familiarity with current PT and industry trends, participating in inter-departmental rounds meetings and coordinating care and services with other team members. Additionally, physical therapists in this position may have the opportunity to serve as faculty instructors, clinical instructors, lecturers, and teaching assistants at local doctor of physical therapy (DPT) programs. This is a part-time position budgeted at 8 hours per week - benefits include accrual of paid time off (PTO) and 401(k) ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & FUNCTIONS: Assessing patient status, plan and implement treatment programs. Administering physical therapy to patients using physical agents, manual therapy and/or therapeutic exercises. Evaluating need for and status of durable medical equipment, orthoses, and adaptive equipment. Willing to learn and use musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSKUS) as a clinical and research tool and for differential diagnostic assessment of musculoskeletal conditions in the bleeding disorders population. Contributing to and conducting research relevant to the furthering of care and management of the bleeding disorders population. Instructing patients and caregivers in exercise and activity. Writing initial evaluations, progress notes and home programs according to established policies and procedures. Collaborating with the team to create care and treatment plans for patients. Maintaining familiarity with physical therapy techniques and developments in industry trends. Assisting with Hemophilia related educational and research activities and participation in regional and national forums. Participating in departmental activities and provide input regarding patient care. Coordinating care and services with other team members and serve as a resource to the team. Other duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS: A baccalaureate degree in physical therapy from an institution of higher learning approved by the board or a baccalaureate degree from an institution of higher learning and a certificate or advanced degree from a school of physical therapy approved by the board. A current Washington State Physical Therapist license in good standing. Minimum five years’ experience providing physical therapy services required. Experience with developing therapy programs for patients with Hemophilia or similar health conditions preferred. Self-motivated and the ability to function independently with minimal supervision. Ability to clearly communicate both in verbal and written format Experience with Microsoft office/365 Analytical skills and the ability to deal with complex projects using critical thinking and appropriate decision-making Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to read, interpret, and apply regulations, policies, and procedures.
