This position will serve as the organization’s lead strategist for both fundraising and external communications, managing a tristate advancement team in the execution of that plan. This position will also ensure effective agency fund development elements including donor acquisition and engagement, fundraising events, direct mail campaigns, and major gift cultivation. Essential Functions Advises the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer, advancement committee of the board, and executive staff of current resources, trends, obstacles, and developments in communications and fundraising Establishes and implements short and long-range resource development strategies, goals, objectives, and strategic planning in collaboration with the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer Acts as staff liaison with the VOANR Advancement Committee with delegation from the Executive Vice President & Chief Business Officer Collaborates with executive leadership to plan each fiscal year fund development. Monitors performance against monthly results and communicates year-end projections Oversees communications and fundraising efforts. Activities including individual giving, special events, corporate solicitations, and major gift development, program and organizational marketing, public relations, and external communications Oversees and manages Development and Communications staff for the highest level of engagement regarding organizational advancement and donor development and cultivation Defines metrics and measurements that quantify the performance of advancement goals and institutionalizes a system for capturing and reporting performance results Partner with Volunteers of America, INC to ensure alignment with fundraising, marketing, communications, and national brand standards Builds and maintains key relationships to ensure fund development strategy is achieved and to reinforce the VOA brand and impact throughout the Charter territory Competencies Possess a strong executive presence Strong fiscal oversight and budget management Strong relationship-building ability Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality Effective communicator with exceptional written and oral skills Solutions-based consultation Model ethical practice Comfort in the full suite of Microsoft Office 365 products Comfort in the full Adobe Creative Suite Continuous demonstration of behaviors aligned with a posture of servant leadership and our cultural values Supervisory Responsibility This position has direct supervisory responsibilities and may serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the organization. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers, photocopiers, and smartphones. Physical Demands The physical demands described here represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or listen. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets, and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Travel Travel is required for this position.
