    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>The <strong>Child Watch Associate</strong>, working under the direction of the Youth Development Director, is responsible for conducting a safe, quality and age-appropriate small or large group experience for children and families in the Prime-Time program, consistent with the <strong>YMCA of Southern Maine</strong>’s core values and the needs of participants and the community. </p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Schedule: </strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Starting the week of June 8th.\n  <ul>\n   <li>Saturday morning: 8:30am-11:30am</li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>*Shifts and hours are subject to change.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Location: </strong>14 Old South Freeport Road Freeport, Maine 04032 United States </p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>Engages in activities that are consistent with the mission, goals and objectives of the YMCA.</li>\n <li>Is a positive role model for the children through good work habits, enthusiasm and a good attitude.</li>\n <li>Adheres to YMCA of Southern Maine personnel policies.</li>\n <li>Works in compliance and is familiar with the YMCA Child Abuse Prevention Policy.</li>\n <li>Adheres to safety rules and procedures.</li>\n <li>Monitors the health and safety of the children including: maintaining the appropriate level of observation of the children and keeping the program area clean and safe.</li>\n <li>Organizes activities and routines for easy transitions for the children.</li>\n <li>Maintains accurate daily attendance records.</li>\n <li>Effectively manages challenging behaviors.</li>\n <li>Reports all incidents as required to the appropriate supervisor.</li>\n <li>Effectively assists children upon arrival to ease the transition to the program.</li>\n <li>Is cooperative with providing fill in assistance for co-workers as needed.</li>\n <li>Attends Childcare meetings as directed.</li>\n <li>Performs special projects as directed by the Child Care and Camp Director or Membership Director as applies to branch.</li>\n <li>Acknowledges parents and children in a courteous and professional manner.</li>\n <li>Exercises good judgment around areas of responsibility.</li>\n <li>Is an advocate to the Y by promoting our cause. Assists with the annual campaign by increasing awareness about the campaign within the Y community.</li>\n <li>Adheres to all Y Brand guidelines and receives prior approval for use and creation of any Y related social media from the Marketing department.</li>\n <li>Learn and actively utilize Employee Portal on a consistent basis.</li>\n <li>Other duties as required.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li>16 years of age or older.</li>\n <li>Experienced working with youth, preferred. </li>\n <li>Detail oriented; extremely reliable, dependable, and punctual.</li>\n <li>CPR/AED/Basic First Aid certified (YMCA will train).</li>\n <li>A criminal background check is required prior to hire. This will be paid for by the YMCA of Southern Maine.</li>\n <li>The ideal candidate must be able to complete all physical requirements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation. </li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Physical Demands:</h2>\n<p>Physical</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Strength: The position requires regularly lifting and /or moving up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.</li>\n <li>Mobility: The position requires sitting, standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, jumping. Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.
