    "description": "<p>VicPD's Special Municipal Constable program encompasses Jail Guards and Community Safety Officers (CSO).  Jail Guards are responsible for the intake, care, and supervision of persons in custody, as well as the management of their property. CSOs provide operational support to front-line officers and assist the public at community events and at VicPD’s front desk.</p>\n<p> This competition is seeking applicants for full time Special Municipal Constable positions.  We are seeking to fill current Jail Guard and Community Safety Officer vacancies. Applications are invited from all Special Municipal Constable employees.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p> <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Jail Guard Job Description:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uniform position working 12-hour shifts, 2 days / 2 nights, 4 days off</li>\n<li>Conduct prisoner intake, documenting health and safety concerns</li>\n<li>Search prisoners, facilitate prisoner movements and document actions to criminal court standard</li>\n<li>Effectively de-escalate, communicate and interact with persons in custody</li>\n<li>Monitor persons in custody through both in-person checks and remote monitoring</li>\n<li>Maintain jail facility and report hazards and concerns<br></li>\n<li>Assist with virtual bail hearings as required</li>\n<li>Enter information into PRIME and receive information from police systems</li>\n<li> Account, accurately document, <br>safekeep and return property to those entering and leaving custody</li>\n<li>Utilize VicPD’s prescribed telehealth program as directed by the Jail NCO. Jailers are expected to maintain a working knowledge of the program and perform basic medical tasks—such as blood pressure and temperature assessments—under the direction of medical staff. When required, jailers may also be responsible for the dispensing of prescribed medications.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Assist Police Officers in the jail and respond to all jail incidents including medical events. Serve as First Aid attendant for VicPD employees</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Where reasonable and necessary, manage persons in custody in accordance with VicPD policy, the Criminal Code and the National Use of Force Framework</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Community Safety Officer Job Description:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Uniform position working 12-hour shifts, 4 days on 4 days off (variable times)</li>\n<li>Assist the public with requests and reports at the Front Desk. Collect and enter pertinent information into PRIME.</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Facilitate Bail hearings in the Jail</span></li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Backfill assistance for the Court Liaison Officer</span></li>\n<li>Serve documents in the community </li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Assist front line officers with tasks including CCTV collection with limited review when requested</li>\n<li>Conduct perimeter security at police incidents</li>\n<li>Collect property,  transport property and lodge property</li>\n</ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide a uniform presence at public and community events</li>\n<li>Aid or provide relief in the Jail as required</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Qualifications:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Team player with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills</li>\n<li>Resilient, patient and flexible individual, motivated to help others</li>\n<li>Self-starter with ability to succeed in a high stress work environment</li>\n<li> Experience writing detailed accurate reports and notes</li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Demonstrated ability to perform tasks with high level of attention to detail</span></li>\n</ul>\n<p><br><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(224, 62, 45); font-size: 12pt; font-weight: bold\">The positions have an anticipated start to be August 2026. </span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><span style=\"color: rgb(35, 111, 161); font-weight: bold; text-decoration: underline\">How to Apply</span></p>\n<p>  </p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Please upload the following documents:</span></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">1.
