    "description": "<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Senior Commercial Building Inspector (CBI)</strong></p>\n<p><em>Full-TimeLocation: U.S. Virgin Islands (primarily St. Croix – On-Site / Field-Based)</em></p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>We are seeking a highly experienced and fully qualified Commercial Building Inspector (CBI) to perform inspections on commercial <em>(non-residential)</em> structures across the U.S. Virgin Islands, primarily in St. Croix. This role supports complex, large-scale projects with a strong emphasis on healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and other critical infrastructure.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The selected candidate will ensure compliance with all applicable building codes, safety standards, and regulatory requirements. This is a senior-level, field-based role requiring advanced technical expertise, independent judgment, and high-level coordination with stakeholders.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>This position requires full-time residence in USVI.  Relocation will be considered for highly qualified candidates willing to commit to multi-year assignments. Local candidates are preferred.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Conduct comprehensive field inspections to ensure compliance with building, fire, and life safety codes</li>\n <li>Inspect all phases of construction including foundation, structural systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Energy systems, life safety systems, and final inspections</li>\n <li>Review construction documents, plans, and specifications for code compliance and constructability</li>\n <li>Identify deficiencies, interpret complex code issues, and document violations with precision</li>\n <li>Prepare detailed, audit-ready inspection reports and maintain accurate records</li>\n <li>Coordinate with contractors, engineers, architects, government officials, and project stakeholders</li>\n <li>Interpret and apply applicable codes, standards, and regulations (IBC and related codes)</li>\n <li>Support quality assurance, compliance protocols, and regulatory oversight activities</li>\n <li>Provide technical guidance and resolve complex field issues with minimal supervision</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Bachelor’s Degree</strong> Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.</li>\n <li><strong>Minimum 10 years of progressively responsible experience</strong> in commercial construction, inspection, or related field.</li>\n <li><strong>ICC Certification </strong>or equivalent credential to the below -OR- ability to <strong>obtain</strong> within a defined timeframe, to include but not limited to:</li>\n <li>Commercial Combination Inspector</li>\n <li>Multiple ICC certifications (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing, Fire Inspector, Plans Examiner)</li>\n <li><strong>Strong working knowledge of </strong>International Building Codes and Standards and related codes (mechanical, plumbing, electrical, energy, fire, life safety)</li>\n <li>Demonstrated experience <strong>inspecting</strong> complex commercial structures, including:</li>\n <li>Hospitals and/or healthcare facilities</li>\n <li>Schools or educational institutions</li>\n <li>Demonstrated ability to read, interpret, and analyze complex construction <strong>drawings</strong> and <strong>technical specifications</strong></li>\n <li>Valid driver’s license</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Active professional licensure </strong>as one of the following (strongly preferred may be required depending on assignment):\n  <ul>\n   <li>Professional Engineer (PE), or Registered Architect (RA)</li>\n   <li>Certified Construction Manager</li>\n   <li>Licensure as a Master Tradesman (Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing)<strong> </strong></li>\n  </ul></li>\n <li>Certified Building Official (<strong>CBO</strong>) designation</li>\n <li><strong>NFPA </strong>certifications (life safety systems, fire protection systems)</li>\n <li>Experience working with federal, state, or local government <strong>agencies</strong></li>\n <li>Fluency in <strong>Spanish</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Certification Requirement</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Candidates who do not possess all required ICC certifications at time of hire may still be considered; however:</li>\n <ul>\n  <li>Ability to <strong>obtain</strong> one or more required certifications within a defined and reasonable timeframe (typically 6–12 months) <strong>is required</strong></li>\n </ul>\n</ul>\n<p><em>Note: Employer sponsorship (training materials, exam fees) is typically provided.
