Our owners are proud Utahns.</strong></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary:</strong> Under supervision from the shop foreman, a mechanic is responsible for repairs, servicing and maintaining equipment and machinery in an efficient and safe manner.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Duties and Responsibilities</strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Repairs and preventative maintenance on trucks and heavy equipment such as loaders, rollers, paving equipment, mixer trucks, etc...</li>\n <li>Assist in the maintenance shops as needed.</li>\n <li>Perform inspections and preventive maintenance of vehicles and equipment.</li>\n <li>Prepare and maintain records and reports.</li>\n <li>Maintain tools as required to do the job.</li>\n <li>Maintain insurable driving record.</li>\n <li>Ensure a safe and healthful work environment at all time.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Education and/or Experience</strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>High school diploma or GED.</li>\n <li>Enrollment in a Diesel Technician Program preferred (Applied Technology College, SLCC, UVU, etc.).</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</strong>:</p>\n<ul>\n <li>Attention and commitment to safety</li>\n <li>Ability to work well with others in a team environment</li>\n <li>Must have vocational training in preventative maintenance, brake systems, and basic wiring.</li>\n <li>Must be able to work varying shifts and long hours.</li>\n <li>Ability to move 50 pounds</li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p><strong>Physical Demands: </strong> The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position.</p>\n<ul>\n <li><strong>Sitting</strong>: 10% of time.</li>\n <li><strong>Standing: </strong>60% - 70% of the time.</li>\n <li><strong>Climbing:</strong> 20%-30% of the time. This includes shop ladders, equipment access ladders, and climbing under equipment for maintenance.</li>\n <li><strong>Driving: </strong>20%-30% of the time for road calls, and pulling equipment in and out of the shop.</li>\n <li><strong>Weight Lifted: </strong>Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 50-70 pounds. Heavy items may be required to be lift above one's head and maneuvered while sitting, kneeling and laying down. For safety, assistance will be provided for heavy objects.</li>\n <li><strong>Physical Movement</strong>: May frequently be required to walk and work over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab, drag, climb and hold objects.</li>\n <li><strong>Working Conditions: </strong>70% of time will be spent working in the shop, and 30% will be field/ road call work.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>*Physical Demands /Safety are dependent on location of position.
