Description

POSITION SUMMARY Pay range: $43.29/hr - $63.21/hr plus 10% per diem differential The occupational therapist (OT) provides comprehensive functional assessment of patients admitted to the psychiatric unit. The OT also coordinates the unit group program and ensures that the groups scheduled groups meet the needs of the current patient population. The OT is responsible for assuring timely completion of assessments, including documentation, and for routine progress notes assessing ongoing function. OT’s are an integral part of the interdisciplinary treatment team and participate in treatment planning, care conferences, activity groups and patient education. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Performed majority of the time: · Evaluates patients’ cognitive, sensorimotor, perceptual and social skills. · Plans and conducts daily occupational therapy group sessions, with individual sessions as needed, in accordance with the interdisciplinary treatment plan and daily priorities of patients and needs of the unit. · Documents patient evaluations and treatments in a thorough, concise manner; includes all pertinent and meaningful observations and information. · Utilizes patient equipment (wheelchairs, walkers, etc.) appropriately and safely. · Demonstrates knowledge of hiring and compensation process/policies. · Organizes, plans and conducts the therapeutic activities program. · Demonstrates proficiency in administering and interpreting evaluation tools. · Utilizes treatment interventions which are appropriate to the age and functional level of patients served. · Makes appropriate discharge recommendations based on accurate assessment of patients’ functional abilities, limitations and an understanding of the levels of care available to geriatric patients. · Follows organizational and unit policies on confidentiality. · Adheres to organizational policies and procedures associated with federal, state and regulatory agency requirements or standards to ensure compliance. · Utilizes feedback from customers in decision making. · Communicates effectively with interdisciplinary team, patients, family/caregivers and members of the public. · Shares information with other team members to facilitate high quality care for patients. Performed occasionally but critical to successful performance of the job: · Supervises occupational therapy students. · Attends and participates in designated treatment team meetings on all matters concerning the patient and/or family · Completes all mandatory education and licensure requirements to meet state, JCAHO and professional requirements. Mandatory education includes but may not be limited to: CPR, CPI, Corporate Safety Day, required CE for license. · Looks for ways to improve customer service. JOB SPECIFICATIONS Experience: Required · N/A Preferred · Two years of recent experience in providing psychiatric and/or geriatric occupational therapy services. Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Required · Current Oregon license in Occupational Therapy. · Current Healthcare Provider BLS at hire or within 90-days of hire. Preferred · N/A Job Related Skills, Abilities and Behaviors: Required · Articulates the role of the Occupational Therapist in geriatric psychiatry. · Excellent customer service skills. · Possesses knowledge of frames of reference utilized in psychosocial occupational therapy; knowledge of cognitive disability theory is preferred. · Consistently utilizes problem-solving techniques to resolve complaints or concerns. · In problem solving, focuses on the situation, issue or behavior not the person. · Demonstrates effective communication skills - body language, filters, listening, paraphrasing, and questions. · Exhibits the ability to learn ‘just in time’ and shares findings with others. · Presents self professionally in appearance and interpersonal skills. · Demonstrates understanding of professional and ethical behaviors. · Uses PC skills in communicating and analyzing data. · Ability to manage time effectively.
