Description
Overview
A NYC-based high-profile two-dad family is looking for an experienced nanny who functions more like a child development partner than a traditional caregiver. The right person brings structure, intention, and strong judgment to their 2 toddler's daily lives–not just supervision. The candidate to hire will be supported by a full household team (housekeeper/house manager, backup nannies), so the focus stays on the children's development, structure, and daily experience. The children are 3.5-years-old and 1.5-years-old and they have another baby on the way but there will be an NCS for the baby and eventually they will hire another nanny down the line to help so this role is focused on the toddlers. Both of the children are in Montessori school. The client's primary home is in Gramercy Park but they have a second home in Miami they spend a significant amount of during during Winter and Spring, generally January through May. This role is Monday through Thursday 7am-8pm and live-in when working and live-out when not working (private room provided in their Gramercy Park home). However, live-out possible for candidates able to reliably commute to Gramercy Park early mornings and stay later on certain evenings as needed. When in Miami, there will be an apartment nearby for the nanny and housekeeper to stay when they are off-hours.The role starts ASAP.
One or both parents often work from home, so you'll see them throughout the day. They have a specific, intentional approach to how they raise their boys. They love Montessori principles, and familiarity with the Montessori approach is a significant plus. They're looking for someone who can adopt and reinforce their approach consistently across their household team. They believe in structured days, calm and confident parenting, building real independence in their children, and protecting them from over-stimulation.
Responsibilities
Lead 2–3 developmentally appropriate activities each day: open-ended play, art, language-rich engagement, significant outdoor time
Guide behavior with calm, clear boundaries and strong judgment
Build and run the boys' weekly schedule–classes, playdates, outings, appointments–and share it with the parents each Friday
Cook simple, healthy meals for the boys (breakfast, lunch, snacks) when needed
Manage the boys' rooms and play spaces — toy rotation, organization, donating outgrown items
Provide a brief development update on each boy twice a month
Coordinate with the housekeeper/house manager and backup nannies to keep things running smoothly
Travel is a core part of this role. They're out of New York roughly 3–4 months a year — primarily Miami and parts of Europe. Trips range from short stays to multi-week periods. You'll travel with the family, maintain consistency in routines across environments, and adapt to different settings. All travel logistics are coordinated in advance. Flights are booked in economy; accommodations are provided.
Requirements
Driver's license and comfort driving (Miami especially)
Valid passport and ability to travel internationally
Current CPR and first-aid certification
Experienced with toddlers and preschoolers
Spanish or Hebrew a nice-to-have, not required
Minimum 5 years experience
Highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented
Naturally structured in how you run a day, without being rigid
Warm and engaging, but not performative or attention-seeking
Strong judgment and ability to operate independently
Clear understanding of early childhood development
Comfortable traveling and adapting to new environments
You're a Strong Fit If:
You create structure without needing constant direction
You keep environments calm and organized
You engage children thoughtfully rather than just keeping them busy
You build warm, real relationships with the children while supporting their bond with the parents
You take ownership of routines and activities while staying aligned with how they run their household
You're Not a Fit If:
You're disorganized or operate in a chaotic way
You rely on constant entertainment rather than thoughtful engagement
You struggle to follow established routines or direction
You require repeated instruction or lack attention to detail
You're inflexible or resistant to working within a defined household system
Salary and Benefits
Paid Time Off (PTO): 15 days annually and 5 paid sick days per year
Health Insurance: Employer-sponsored health insurance plan
Retirement: 401(k) participation (details provided upon eligibility)
Bonus:Discretionary year-end bonus of up to 10% of gross annual earnings, based on performance and overall fit
$40+/hour (depending on education and qualifications)
