    "requisitionDescription": "<div><div><div><div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\" data-pasted=\"true\"><strong>Surgical Tech First Assist - Surgery and WP</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">MAIN FUNCTION:</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Under the supervision and direction of the operating surgeon, functions during the assistant role until conclusion of the operative procedure. Does not concurrently function as the scrub. When not working as a surgical first assistant, works as a scrub as directed.</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><em>&nbsp;</em></strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><em>MUST HAVE REQUIREMENTS:&nbsp;</em></strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong><em>&nbsp;</em></strong></p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Current certification/licensure from an accredited program</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Complete an <strong>accredited Surgical First Assistant program</strong><ul style=\"list-style-type: circle;\"><li>Accredited programs include those through (or recognized by) CAAHEP</li></ul></li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintain a current AHA (American Heart Association) Healthcare Provider BLS card</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Must obtain and maintain Medical Staff credentialing.</li></ul></div><p style=\"margin-left:.5in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>Must be able to respond to the hospital within <em>30 MINUTES</em></strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><strong>or be willing to stay on site while on call.</strong></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">OTHER REQUIREMENTS:</p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ol style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Applies principles of asepsis technique according to standards.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Follows infection control according to current guidelines.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Recognizes safety hazards and initiates appropriate corrective action.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Applies knowledge of surgical anatomy, physiology, and operative technique relative to patient care wherein SFA assists.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Performs positioning, prepping, and draping of patient.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Provides hemostasis by clamping blood vessels, coagulating bleeding points, ligating vessels,</li></ol></div><p style=\"margin-left:.5in;\">and by other means as directed by the surgeon</p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ol start=\"7\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Provides exposure through appropriate use of instruments, retractors, suctioning, and sponging.</li></ol></div><p style=\"margin-left:.5in;\">techniques.</p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ol start=\"8\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Handles tissue as directed by the surgeon during the operative procedure.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Performs wound closure as directed by the surgeon, sutures the peritoneum, fascia,</li></ol></div><p style=\"margin-left:.5in;\">subcutaneous tissue and skin.</p><div style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><ol start=\"10\" style=\"list-style-type: decimal;\"><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Applies surgical dressings.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Assists with transferring the patient from the operating room.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Practices within limitations of preparation and experience</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Maintains continuing education relative to practice.</li><li style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Verifies correct sponge, tape, needle, and instrument count with other nursing personnel in room.</li></ol></div><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">RESPONSIBLE TO: Department Director, Clinical Manager, Charge Nurses</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\"><br></p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">GENERAL TECH MAIN FUNCTION:</p><p style=\"margin-left:0in;\">Scrubs and assists the RN and other health care team members during surgical procedures.
