Participates as a member of the medical/dental team with the Center. Functions as an educational resource to patients, the Center, students, and the community.</p>\n <p><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</strong></p>\n <ul>\n  <li>Provide direct patient care in accordance with training, experience and licensure.</li>\n  <li>Provide care in the disciplines of diagnosis, preventive dentistry, operative dentistry, pedodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics (fixed and removable), endodontics, and oral surgery within the scope of a general dentistry practice.</li>\n  <li>Complete or supervise the completion of all necessary documentation of care provided to the patients, referrals, insurance verification and any other paperwork that may be a part of the dental visit (within protocol and practices established by the Center).</li>\n  <li>Meet or exceed minimum patient care productivity requirements as may be set by the Center to meet requirements of outside funding and/or reimbursement sources.</li>\n  <li>May assist in organizing and participating in specialty clinics and camp visitations. May be required to provide services at all sites.</li>\n  <li>Participate as a member of the medical/dental team within the Center.</li>\n  <li>Provide day-to-day supervision of ancillary dental personnel and help evaluate performance of professional and ancillary dental personnel.</li>\n  <li>Take part in peer review process, as assigned.</li>\n  <li>Participate in committees within the Center.</li>\n  <li>Function as an educational resource to patients, the Center, students, and the community.</li>\n  <li>Provide supervision, oversight, and evaluation of dental and dental hygiene students on rotation through the Center.</li>\n  <li>Provide technical assistance to medical personnel as requested.</li>\n  <li>Become a part of professional committees at the community level, which improves the Center's visibility and status.</li>\n  <li>May be required to temporarily assume responsibilities of Dental Director in his/her absence.</li>\n  <li>Generally strive to improve patient care and professionalism at VGMHC.</li>\n  <li>Handle protected health information (PHI) in a manner consistent with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA).</li>\n  <li>Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.</li>\n </ul>\n <p style=\"margin-left:.25in;\"><strong>HIPAA Requirements:</strong></p>\n <p>The dentist will have access to PHI in the course of carrying out their patient care duties.
