    "description": "<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Overview</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>RiverFlow Dredging is seeking a <span style=\"font-weight: bold\">DutyEngineer </span>with a demonstrated ability to manage assigned duties promptly and efficiently. This position will be based on the<span style=\"font-weight: bold\"><em> RiverFlow Spirit</em></span>, a trailing suction hopper dredger that will commence operations in the Fraser River in June 2026.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Duties &amp; Responsibilities</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>The Duty Engineer’s duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reading the Chief Engineer's Standing orders;</li>\n<li>Monitoring and recording fuel levels of the day tank and settling tank;</li>\n<li>Monitoring and recording levels in dirty water tanks, sludge tanks and main engine sump tanks;</li>\n<li>Performing a general check on machineries (oil/water level, temperatures and pressure);</li>\n<li>Draining water from starting air bottles and air systems;</li>\n<li>Draining water/sludge accumulated on F.O. daily tanks;</li>\n<li>Documenting and reporting incidents, repairs, failures, use of spare parts and special activities;</li>\n<li>Taking over running watch duties;</li>\n<li>Performing repairs and tasks as directed by the Chief Engineer; and</li>\n<li>Executing and supervising tasks as ordered by the Chief Engineer.</li>\n</ul>\n<p>The Duty Engineer reports to the Chief Engineer and/or the Second Engineer.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Skills, Knowledge and Required Competencies</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certificate of Competency\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum-Fourth-Class Engineer, Motor Ship</li>\n</ul>\n</li>\n<li>Marine Medical Certificate</li>\n<li>Certificate of Proficiency in STCW Basic Safety</li>\n<li>Certificate of Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats</li>\n<li>Certificate of Proficiency in Advanced Fire Fighting</li>\n<li>Certificate of Proficiency in Marine Advanced First Aid</li>\n<li>Ship management practices taught using a propulsive plant simulator</li>\n<li>Eligible to work in Canada</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Working Conditions</span><br></p>\n<p><br></p>\n<ul>\n<li>12-hour days with overtime as required</li>\n<li>Unionized position with the Canadian Merchant Service Guild</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>This position is challenging, interesting and will be well suited to an individual looking to further expand their existing skill set and take part in an exciting experience within a strong and healthy work environment.</p>\n<p><br></p>\n<p>We thank all applicants for their interest; only candidates who have been selected for an interview will be contacted.</p>",
