About The Democratic Party of Wisconsin
WisDems is nationally recognized as one of the country’s highest-performing and most pivotal political organizations. During the upcoming election cycle, WisDems will drive massive programs to hold Republicans accountable, elect progressive candidates up and down the ballot, and work to build volunteer-led coalitions for the long term. WisDems’ work is grounded in inclusion, respect, and empowerment across race, gender, other dimensions of identity, and the rural/suburban/urban divide. Our work continues year-round, collaborating with partners to build a movement that delivers meaningful change for all Wisconsinites. We seek outstanding applicants who share our values and vision to join the team, help win elections, and build a future where everyone can thrive.
role
Proudly a Bargaining Unit Position with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers
The Opportunity: As a Regional Mobilization Manager (RMM), you are the tactical engine of the region. While the Regional Organizing Director sets the strategic vision, you ensure that vision is executed on the ground every single day. You will serve as the "General Deputy" for a specific section of your region, bridging the gap between high-level strategy and daily field operations. You will directly support and coach Field Organizer(s), drive the development of our volunteer Neighborhood Action Teams, and ensure that our voter contact goals turn from numbers on a spreadsheet into knocks on doors. This is a leadership role for an operator who loves the mechanics of organizing and finds joy in turning volunteers into leaders.
The Team:
You will report to the Regional Organizing Director (ROD) and work hand-in-glove with them to manage a portion of the region. You will assist in the day-to-day management of a team of Field Organizers, serving as a primary coach and accountability partner for them. You will help to support building strong volunteer infrastructure that will continue to organize their communities for the long run.
You're our person if:
You are a Tactical Expert. You know exactly what it takes to launch a successful canvass, run a phone bank, or cut turf. You will be able to guide Field Organizers to successfully launch Direct Voter Contact events. You sweat the details so the Field Organizers don't have to. You focus on "The How." When the ROD says "We need to hit 5,000 doors this weekend," your brain immediately jumps to: How many shifts? Which staging locations? Who is prepping the packets? You are a Coach. You excel at spotting talent—both in staff and volunteers—and nurturing it. You know how to move a volunteer from "showing up" to "leading the team." You are resilient and adaptable. Campaign life moves fast. When a venue falls through or a goal shifts, you don't panic—you pivot and solve the problem.
Job Responsibilities:
Tactical Execution & Operations
Assist in driving the daily implementation of the region’s field plan for the portion of the region you are responsible for, ensuring Field Organizers have the resources, turf, and data they need to meet their goals. Oversee the logistics for regional days of action, canvass launches, and high-traffic voter contact events. Monitor daily and weekly metrics for your assigned turf, identifying gaps in performance and intervening early to get the team back on track. Manage the office infrastructure for the region, ensuring materials are organized and ready for deployment. Volunteer Leadership Development
Work directly with Neighborhood Action Teams to identify, recruit, and train volunteer leaders. Move volunteers up the "Ladder of Engagement," turning consistent canvassers or first-time volunteers into Staging Location Directors, recruitment captains, and overall Team Leadership. Foster a community of belonging within volunteer teams, ensuring retention through the campaign cycle and beyond. Staff Management & Coaching
Partner with the ROD to manage the Field Organizer (FO) team, providing day-to-day guidance, troubleshooting, and motivation. Help lead daily stand-ups or check-ins with FOs to set priorities and remove blockers. Model best practices in the field, frequently canvassing alongside FOs and volunteers to provide real-time feedback and training. Digital & Relational Organizing
Implement digital organizing tactics within the region, ensuring offline organizing is amplified online. Drive relational organizing goals (e.g., friend-to-friend outreach) within volunteer teams, ensuring it is integrated into every event.
Core Qualifications: Accountability & Solution-Oriented: You take full ownership of your actions and commitments, holding yourself to a high standard and seeing objectives through to completion. When challenges arise, you approach them with a problem-solving mindset, focusing on solutions rather than pointing fingers. Collaboration & Teamwork: You succeed by working as a team, stepping up to support teammates, and sharing knowledge freely. You actively break down silos by connecting across teams, inviting different perspectives, and staying open to new ideas to achieve shared goals. Growth & Adaptability: You are dedicated to continuous improvement and challenge yourself to learn and adapt. You proactively seek, offer, and act on feedback with openness and can anticipate potential obstacles to take proactive steps. Respect & Inclusion: You build strong relationships by treating everyone with kindness, dignity, and trust. You approach interactions assuming positive intent and have the courage to address difficult topics directly and honestly while showing care for others. Transparent Communication: You communicate openly and honestly to build trust and alignment. You are proactive in setting clear expectations, sharing the "why" behind decisions, and providing timely updates to ensure the right people have the information they need.
Qualifications (Required):
Previous Organizing Experience: At least 1 cycle of field organizing experience (Fellowship or Staff). You must know the basics of field (VAN, turf, phone banking) inside and out. Leadership Potential: Demonstrated experience leading a team, whether that be a team of volunteers, a student group, or junior staff. Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in Votebuilder (VAN) and Google Sheets/Excel. Strong Interpersonal Communication Skills: Can connect with others, motivate, and quickly gain trust with volunteers, staff, and community members across lines of difference. Valid Driver's License: Access to reliable transportation and a willingness to travel frequently throughout the region.
Qualifications (Preferred):
Experience managing independent volunteer leadership or working with the neighborhood team model. Experience training other organizers or volunteers. Familiarity with Wisconsin political geography or community connections.
Note: On-year requirements include working outside of normal work hours; including canvassing and other election-preparation as necessary.
Benefits : Great benefits including; excellent health care ($1/month), dental ($1/month), vision ($1/month), life insurance (free), short term and long-term disability (free), mileage reimbursement, monthly cell phone stipend, paid vacation days, retirement plan with employer match, floating holidays, paid holidays.
Equity and Inclusion : The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has a vision for a deeply inclusive and diverse party organization, membership, and electorate. In order to be successful at the Democratic Party of Wisconsin candidates must have the cultural competence to successfully work with a diverse array of constituency groups. We especially strongly encourage applicants with close ties to Black, Indigenous, AAPI, Latinx, Muslim, non-English-speaking, disability, and LGBTQIA+ communities. The Democratic Party of Wisconsin is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
