Description

Job Summary The Senior Manager, Member Platforms serves as the strategic and operational leader along with the Director, Information Management, for IEEE%27s suite of member-facing platforms—including IEEE Collabratec, IEEE Volunteering, and others as assigned. This role shares the business leadership and strategic roadmap, and owns the marketing, user engagement, governance, and administration for these platforms, helping to ensure they deliver high value to members, volunteers, and the broader IEEE community. This leader is responsible for working with Information Management staff to set platform direction. Additionally, they will have primary responsibility for driving adoption and awareness, improving user satisfaction, championing the voice of the user, enabling volunteers, and ensuring day to day operational excellence. While technical development and engineering execution are housed in Information Management, the Senior Manager is accountable for defining platform needs, partnering on prioritization, and helping to ensure the roadmap aligns to member value, strategic objectives, and user experience insights. This role reports to the Director, Member Products & Programs and manages two direct reports. Key Responsibilities 1. Platform Co-Leadership & Strategic Roadmap Execution (25%) Serve as the business co-owner and partner to lead all assigned platforms, representing them internally across operating units and externally with volunteer leadership. Along with Information Management, develop and maintain the strategic roadmap, ensuring platform direction aligns with IEEE’s membership, engagement, and volunteer strategies. Drive cross functional collaboration with Information Management to translate user needs and business priorities into clear requirements and enhancements (no coding or technical execution required). Present strategic plans, roadmap updates, priorities, and performance results to senior staff, volunteer committees, and governing bodies. Evaluate the competitive landscape and emerging trends to ensure platforms remain valuable, relevant, and forward-looking. 2. Marketing, Awareness & Engagement (35%) Develop and execute integrated marketing and communications strategies to increase platform awareness, registrations, repeated usage, and perceived value. Partner with Marketing & Communications and external agencies on campaigns, messaging, positioning, audience segmentation, and promotional initiatives. Lead adoption strategies focused on the full user journey—from awareness to registration, onboarding, engagement, and deeper participation. Oversee platform-level communications including promotional messaging, onboarding content, release updates, and user newsletters. 3. User Experience, Satisfaction & Research (10%) Drive improvements to user satisfaction by gathering insights through research, surveys, user interviews, and feedback loops. Analyze engagement patterns, usage metrics, and user behavior to inform roadmap priorities and marketing strategies. Champion the voice of the user in all platform decisions, ensuring platform improvements are tied to measurable member value. Create and share presentations and analysis with volunteer committees and other stakeholders. 4. Volunteer Enablement, Governance & Stakeholder Management (10%) Serve as the primary liaison to volunteer committees overseeing or using the platforms; provide regular status reports, proposals, and strategic updates. Develop volunteer training, guidance materials, onboarding resources, and communication support tools. Build strong relationships with volunteers and staff across IEEE, representing platform needs and ensuring alignment of goals. 5. Operations, Administration & Staff Leadership (20%) Lead, coach, and mentor two direct reports, ensuring clarity of goals, professional development, and high quality output. Collaborate effectively within a matrix environment with Information Management and other operating units. Oversee day-to-day operations for each platform, including user support workflows, issue resolution and escalation, vendor coordination, and administrative processes. Manage the non technical budgets including marketing spend, sponsorship or advertising programs, forecasting, and financial reporting.
