This individual will work in a fast pace environment enjoying the satisfaction of seeing their ideas become reality from concept stage, design and validation, and eventual transition of new batteries into production. This is a hand-on role that will allow you to shape the details of a battery design every step of the way as you serve both as the technical lead and overall project manager interacting with suppliers, internal groups, and customers during the development phase of a new project. With a fully operational test lab and prototype shop in house, you’ll be able to test and validate your ideas as you create prototypes and while you work to help your team implement new ways of working.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar technical degree.
Minimum of 7-10 years of relevant experience in mechanical design of small to medium size electromechanical devices similar to batteries such as automotive, appliances, medical devices, and telecommunications (radios, IoT, sensors, locators).
Experience in product development inside manufacturing environments delivering solutions that consistently meet rigorous performance requirements while driving efficiency and profitability.
Experience in designing and specifying the assembly of components, including injection‑molded and machined plastic parts, wiring harnesses, small‑component weldments, and electronic protection devices and connectors.
Project management experience with excellent organization and communications skills to inform and direct stakeholders.
Proven ability to objectively make design decisions that improve manufacturability, reliability, and product lifecycle performance.
Proficiency in interpreting standards and certifying products against military MIL‑PRF specifications, IEC and UL compliance requirements, and UN transportation regulations.
Supervisory experience of technicians.
Proficient in mechanical design using 3D CAD.
Ability to operate electromechanical device assembly instruments such as welders, testers, soldering irons, and encapsulant dispensers.
Must meet the definition of a "US Person" as defined under 2 CFR 120.62.
Must be authorized to work “for any employer" in the United States of America.
Responsibilities
In this exciting role you will:
Carry out communication exchanges with customer to ensure the intended design meets the customer's needs.
