Position Summary
Odyssey Systems has an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer supporting the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center’s C3I and Infrastructure Division (AFLCMC/HNI) at Hanscom Air Force Base, Bedford, MA. HNI delivers enterprise support to over 110 active Air Force, Air National Guard, and Air Force Reserve installations and bases, providing technical and policy support, as well as C3I infrastructure for USAF enterprise applications.
In this role, you will apply a broad theoretical and practical knowledge of software engineering to design, develop, test, and implement software solutions. You will support all phases of the software development lifecycle (SDLC), contributing to the planning, requirements, design, verification and validation (V&V), and sustainment of mission-critical systems, while working in collaboration with government and industry partners.
Responsibilities
In this Advisory and Assistance Services (A&AS) role, you will provide expert-level support to Department of Defense (DoD) programs by assisting government leadership with decision-making, planning, and execution throughout the acquisition lifecycle. You will apply your technical and/or professional expertise to ensure compliance with applicable policies and regulations, contribute to mission success, and help deliver critical capabilities to the warfighter.
Duties include, but not limited to:
Review, prepare, and analyze documentation, requirements, design, and test materials.
Evaluate operational feasibility by analyzing problem definitions, requirements, and potential solutions.
Develop software solutions through documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, and well-structured code.
Design and install solutions by determining system specifications, standards, and programming.
Conduct systems analysis to recommend improvements in policies, processes, and procedures.
Obtain and manage software licensing, including vendor engagement, testing, and approval of products.
Provide information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing development and service issues.
Develop solutions by studying user needs, systems flow, data usage, and work processes, following the software development life cycle.
Plan and/or implement Agile acquisition and software development techniques.
Plan and/or implement DevOps processes and techniques for cloud and non-cloud applications.
Qualifications
Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Minimum Required Qualifications Clearance: Must have and be able to maintain an Active Secret clearance Education: Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 10 years of relevant experience (3 within DoD) OR
15 years of directly related experience with proper certifications (5 within DoD)
Preferred Qualifications Education: Master’s degree in a related field
Experience working in the DoD and is familiar with technical requirements documents, test plans, and implementation plans
3-5 years’ experience with Active directory, Windows Domain Controllers, Group policies, FSMO.
Fundamental knowledge of cybersecurity -- network topologies, Ports and Protocols specifications, ACAS scans
Experience with virtual machines that run applications on Windows OS- building Windows based virtual machines using ESXI and/or Vxrail.
Interpersonal Skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
Adaptability to evolving mission and technical requirements
