    "description": "<p><span>McLean School (<a href=\"http://www.mcleanschool.org/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">mcleanschool.org</a>), a K-12 co-educational independent school in Potomac, Maryland, seeks applicants for the Head Coach for Cross Country position to begin August 2026.</span></p>\n<p><span> </span></p>\n<p>McLean School has for almost 70 years been helping bright students realize their full potential by providing a comprehensive college preparatory program that emphasizes small classes and differentiated instruction. Through our Abilities Model®, we embrace both traditional learners and ones with mild to moderate learning challenges. We recognize and teach individual strengths, responding to areas of challenge, but never defining students by them.</p>\n<p> </p>\n<p>The Head Coach for Cross Country is responsible for planning, organizing, managing, and directing the Middle School &amp; Upper School Cross Country Program.</p>\n<p>This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics, Coaching, and Mentoring.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Preferred Qualifications <br></span>The ideal candidate will have<br>experience as a Head Coach for Cross Country at the College or club-level, effective written and oral communication skills, a connection to the youth and local cross country community, an ability to build relationships and work well with others, a sharp perspective on the role of athletics in the educational experience.</p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold\">Essential duties include:</span></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Offer positive leadership by coaching the Varsity Program</li>\n<li>Oversee the entire Cross Country Program including our Middle School and Junior Varsity Program</li>\n<li>Serve as an ambassador for the school and the program by connecting and following up with interested scholar-athletes and families</li>\n<li>Conduct out-of-season programs within league rules such as strength and conditioning, summer leagues, and pre- and post-season workouts</li>\n<li>Connect with Middle and Lower School students and families to promote participation and involvement in the program.</li>\n<li>Embrace the Core Values of McLean School and model behaviors consistent with those values</li>\n</ul>\n<p>McLean School is an equal opportunity employer and considers all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, ancestry, national origin, age, sex, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identity, family responsibilities, disability, genetic status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law.
