Our family owned company is seeking an experienced Pipe Layer for our roadway construction project in Catawba County, North Carolina (Hickory).</strong></p><p><strong><span style='font-family: \"arial black\", sans-serif; color: rgb(209, 72, 65);'>STARTING PAY is negotiable and based on skills and experience.</span></strong></p><p><strong>Summary/Objective</strong></p><p>Responsible for assembling, connecting, and constructing pipe systems for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains. Ensures ground is prepped and trenches dug out for pipes. Aligns pipes and seals joints together with cement or glue. Responsible for the lay out, assembly and installation of large drain pipe including: Reinforced Concrete Pipe (RCP), Reinforced Concrete Box (RCB), and Corrugated Metal Pipe (CMP) on company projects.</p><p><strong>Job Responsibilities</strong></p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Configure pipe routes.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Align pipes in pipeline sections.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Dig trenches with trenching tools.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Slide pipe into trenches.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Tell tractor driver where to move pipe in preparation for welding.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Insert spaces in between pipes.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Pull out defective or misaligned pipes.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Correct alignments with sledgehammers.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Inspect places where pipes are fitted together to ensure pipes are spaced out properly and according to specifications.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Lay pipe for storm or sanitation sewers, drains, and water mains.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Grade trenches or culverts.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Seal joints.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Use glue or welding equipment to ensure pipes are tightly fitted.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Ensure pipes are fitted and aligned using grade rods or transit levels.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Cover pipes with dirt or other material.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Drill holes into pipes for auxiliary lines.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Perform continual maintenance on pipes and replace those needing repair.</p><p>&nbsp; &nbsp; &bull; Utilize magnetic or radio indicators.</p><p><strong>Position Type and Expected Hours of Work</strong></p><p>Normal work hours are Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. with time provided for lunch, hours may vary.&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Required Education and Experience</strong></p><p>High school diploma or equivalent.</p><p><strong>Company Benefits</strong></p><p>&bull; &nbsp; &nbsp;Competitive Compensation Package</p><p>&bull; &nbsp; &nbsp;Comprehensive Health, Vision and Dental Insurance</p><p>&bull; &nbsp; &nbsp;FSA Program</p><p>&bull; &nbsp; &nbsp;401K Program with 4% company match</p><p>&bull; &nbsp; &nbsp;8 Paid Holidays plus personal floating holiday</p><p>&bull; &nbsp; &nbsp;Accrue 80 hours Paid Time Off (PTO) the first year</p><p>And more&hellip;</p><p><strong>Why you should apply:&nbsp;</strong></p><ul><li>Excellent working environment</li><li>Working for a company that cares about your success&nbsp;</li><li>Working for a growing company</li></ul><p>Employment is conditional on satisfactorily completing all pre-employment requirements including background and drug screen.
