Description
Adams Thermal Systems is a world-class manufacturer of engine cooling systems for off-highway and on-highway vehicles.
This includes agricultural equipment, construction equipment, military, hydraulics, on-highway trucks and diesel engines, as well as automotive and electric vehicle applications.
Job Description Position is responsible for the design, installation, and improvement of production systems requiring the integration of people, equipment and materials for Adams Thermal Systems products. Position requires extensive interaction with Product Engineering, Quality, Maintenance and Operations. Specific emphasis on support of PLC controls, Vision systems, SCADA and other electronic machine controls.
Essential Job Functions
Responsible for creating, implementing, maintaining and improving production processes, methods and sequences to achieve quality, throughput and cost targets. This includes working with Production Associates to optimize productivity through efficient, ergonomic and safe workstation designs, Human-machine interfaces and assembly line layouts for current and new products. Develop maintain and improve current SCADA system. Provide day to day support for the manufacturing of products to ensure meeting customer requirements including the troubleshooting of production problems throughout the plant using structured problem-solving tools. Designs, develops and supervises all aspects of electrical control systems, equipment and machinery. Responsible for installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software. Responsible for support of supervisory control and data acquisition software (SCADA). Responsible for installation and support of other automation and electronic machine control systems. Assist in the development, performance and optimization of preventative maintenance CMMS systems. Develop and implement equipment utilization programs and capacity planning to increase line productivity. Provides technical assistance as needed by internal customers. Interface with equipment vendors and contractors to troubleshoot and resolve startup or maintenance issues. Reverse engineer current systems and programs for performing failure recovery and contingency planning. Leads, supports and encourages improvement projects (Kaizen) in conjunction with Maintenance, Manufacturing and Quality through individual and team development. Responsible for continuous improvement of plant wide material handling, packaging and product protection and material flow at workstations. Develop and implement overall material handling and product protection strategies. Create and maintain manufacturing documentation as required by the various Operating procedures such as Work Instructions, Routings, Manufacturing Process Documentation, etc. Remains current in new manufacturing engineering technology, new manufacturing techniques and new equipment. Recommends new approaches where feasible. Train others and communicate effectively with all levels of the organization to implement changes. Demonstrates successful Project Management techniques and abilities by combining Engineering skills and people skills. Actively involved in TS16949 processes including Control Plans, PPAP’s, Process Capability Studies (Cpk), Statistical Process Controls, Gauging and Testing Techniques. Other duties as required.
Required Skills and Characteristics
Minimum 2 years related experience in a manufacturing environment Must be experienced in manufacturing processes, production tooling, fixture design, work station design, line layout and balancing, OSHA and safety regulations, and hazardous materials management. Excellent critical thinking skills. Basic PC skills, CAD, Drafting PLC, CMMS, ERP, and electronic machine control experience necessary. AA degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree + experience. Interact with outside suppliers, customers, and co-workers in a positive and constructive manner.
Preferred Skills and Characteristics
Allen Bradley Legacy 5, 500 and 5000 software experience preferred. Ignition SCADA development knowledge preferred. Excellent organizational and interface skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to solve problems and find lasting solutions. Must present self as a role model to demonstrate high standards of performance and personal integrity. Must demonstrate tact and tolerance. Must support team processes and the empowerment of people at all levels of the organization through training and education, and through management practices that reinforce individual responsibility and accountability. Position requires a high level of energy and the ability to cope with variable levels of stress.
