    "description": "<h2>Overview</h2>\n<p>At Mahaska Health a <strong>Resource Registered Nurse</strong> is responsible for the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the Inpatient Services/Critical Care Unit, Birthing Center Services, and Emergency Services. Coordinates patient education and activities of interdisciplinary personnel while maintaining standards of professional nursing.</p>\n<h2>Responsibilities</h2>\n<p><strong>Essential Job Functions include but are not limited to:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>Is familiar with all nursing departments and can assist when necessary. </li>\n <li>May work multiple departments in one shift, or all hours in a single unit.</li>\n <li>Assumes the role of clinical resource person when necessary or finds necessary resources. </li>\n <li>Gives skilled nursing care to assigned patients. </li>\n <li>Assess and document the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social dimensions of patients on admission. </li>\n <li>Establish treatment priorities based on medical and nursing diagnosis. </li>\n <li>Initiate, implement, and modify an interdisciplinary plan of care individualized to each patient's assessed needs including family. </li>\n <li>Utilize all available resources in planning care and consult as necessary with physicians, supervisors, and interdisciplinary services. </li>\n <li>Provide ongoing reassessment and documentation of the patient's status. </li>\n <li>Perceive patient problems and/or complications through assessment skills and implement appropriate action. </li>\n <li>Document nursing intervention and patient response. </li>\n <li>Safely prepare, administer, and document medications and IV therapy. </li>\n <li>Assess for and provide patient and family education at their level of understanding regarding disease process and treatment plan. </li>\n <li>Organize workload effectively to accomplish care in a timely manner. </li>\n <li>Utilize documentation methods as approved by the Mahaska Health Partnership. </li>\n <li>Accurately transcribe and communicate oral and written physician orders. </li>\n <li>Communicate pertinent information regarding the patient’s status to appropriate interdisciplinary team members in a timely manner. </li>\n <li>Implement clinical and technical aspects of care and nursing orders in accordance with established standards. </li>\n <li>Assess for possible discharge needs at the time of admission, and throughout hospitalization, and finalize discharge planning with input from the interdisciplinary team, the patient, the patient’s family, and other available resources. </li>\n <li>Assist in the mentoring and orientation of new personnel to the unit. </li>\n <li>Prudent use of financial resources and good stewardship in utilizing Mahaska Health Partnership supplies and services. </li>\n <li>Conduct self in accordance with Mahaska Health Partnership's confidentiality policy; ensuring to follow all MHP training guidelines in accordance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.</li>\n <li>Maintain a cooperative working relationship with employees, visitors, medical staff, and patients, keeping in mind the person’s unique needs within their age category (refer to Mahaska Health’s Age Specific Standards of Care Policy).</li>\n <li>Ability to deal with confidential information. </li>\n <li>Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job.</li>\n <li>Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Attend meetings, as requested. </li>\n <li>All other duties as assigned or requested.</li>\n <li><p><strong>Birthing Center Labor and Delivery </strong></p></li>\n <li>Ability to correctly recognize abnormal labor situations and take proper action per departmental protocol. </li>\n <li>Possess the ability to perform accurate vaginal exams, call physician for delivery at the appropriate time, and interpret fetal monitor tracings.</li>\n</ul>\n<h2>Qualifications</h2>\n<p><strong>Requirements include but are not limited to:</strong></p>\n<ul>\n <li>A graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the state of Iowa <strong>(or) </strong>a graduate from an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed as a Registered Nurse able to work in the state of Iowa. </li>\n <li>Must be fully trained Inpatient Services/Critical Care Unit, Birthing Center Services, and Emergency Services departments.</li>\n <li>Required to be certified in ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) and PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) within one year of hire. </li>\n <li>Will be required to show proof of having completed Mandatory Reporter course at the time of hire or attend within 6 months of the start date.</li>\n <li>Required to be current in BLS (Basic Life Support) by the standards of the American Heart Association. </li>\n <li>Must adhere to all training requirements as mandated by Federal, State, and Professional licensure and regulatory standards. </li>\n <li>Understand and comply with the requirements of MHP’s Compliance Program, including, but not limited to the Code of Conduct, the Compliance Policy, all supporting policies for compliance, and compliance plans affecting specific duties and responsibilities.</li>\n <li>Participate in all education and training programs regarding compliance as required by Practice policy and as requested by the supervisor.</li>\n <li>Consistently support the Compliance Program through personal example; the provision of day-to-day instruction and correction to employees regarding compliance-related issues; application of appropriate discipline as required for compliance violations; and ongoing monitoring of activities and work product in areas of responsibility with respect to compliance-related issues.</li>\n</ul>",
