Purpose
A Music Lessons Instructor should be able to teach a wide range of music lessons and grade levels. They should be an educator who has demonstrated a love for teaching Fine Arts disciplines and is familiar with the rewards and challenges of working with students.
Essential Job Functions
Supports the School’s mission statement and the philosophy of the department and adheres to School policies and procedures, including but not limited to what is outlined in the Employee Handbook
Teaches private, semi-private and small group lessons
Plans and maintains the lesson scheduling; completes billing as directed
Teaches on both campuses as needed, or assigned by the Fine Arts Director
Supervises students appropriately, both inside and outside of the classroom; responds to inappropriate behavior following proper departmental and divisional protocols
Prepares, teaches and presents student work at concerts, recitals, shows, performances and competitions as applicable
Supports and encourages students to reach their artistic goals
Has a thorough knowledge of the content area
Provides individual, small-group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of students with varying intellectual and artistic abilities, and to accommodate a variety of instructional activities
Keeps the classroom well-organized including common areas, storage areas and controlled use of materials, equipment and tools to prevent loss or abuse, and to minimize the time required for the distribution and collection of materials
Participates and contribute in departmental and divisional meetings and activities as required; adhere to departmental and divisional expectations and protocols
Selects and requisitions books, instructional materials, tools, instructional aids
Keeps Fine Arts Director advised of all developments, including academic and emotional concerns for students; consults with supervisor when conflicts or disagreements arise and performs in a professional, supportive manner
Chaperones and supervises students at Fine Arts events on and off campus
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Department Supervisor or their designee

Certifications and Licenses
