    "description": "<p>Thompson House has an opening for the position of Permanent Part-Time RPN Evening. This position is responsible for performing a variety of nursing services including supervision of direct care staff in support of the resident’s health and well-being. The successful candidate must ensure compliance with government regulations. The position requires the successful candidate to work daily shifts.<br>This position is governed by the SEIU collective agreement.</p>\n<p><br><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The Successful Candidate For This Position Must Have The Following Qualifications:</span></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Current Certification of Competence with the College of Nurses of Ontario.</li>\n<li>Experience with Point Click Care or other electronic health care record software.</li>\n<li>Certificate in Gerontology is considered an asset</li>\n</ul>\n<p><br></p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: bold;\">The Successful Candidate For This Position Must Be Able To:</span><br></p>\n<p> </p>\n<ul>\n<li>Direct and supervise PSWs.</li>\n<li>Actively seek out necessary information to accomplish job responsibilities/standards of performance.</li>\n<li>Demonstrate sensitivity to utilization, maintenance, and cost of equipment and supplies pertinent to the nursing department.</li>\n<li>Participate in orientation of new staff to the Home/unit.</li>\n<li>Provide input to nursing and the multidisciplinary team to help develop individualized plans of care for the residents.</li>\n<li>Carry out interventions according to the care plan within their scope of practice.</li>\n<li>Assess, measure, document and communicate changes in the resident’s physical, mental or emotional condition using Point Click Care/RAI MDS.</li>\n<li>Conduct regular rounds and through interviews and observations, maintain a full knowledge of each resident’s conditions, activities and changing needs. Evaluate nursing interventions in relation to the stated goals.</li>\n<li>Administer medication in compliance with the policies of the Home and the standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario. Ensure the safe keeping of drugs and<br>narcotics in compliance with the CNO and policies and procedures of Thompson House.</li>\n<li>Maintain all residents’ records (both paper and computerized) in compliance with the policies of the Home and standards of the College of Nurses of Ontario.</li>\n<li>Transcribe doctor’s orders. Ensure that the transcription of orders is carried out promptly and accurately. Seek clarification if necessary.</li>\n<li>Assist as necessary with personal care of residents.</li>\n<li>Supervise meal times.</li>\n<li>Ensure that the direct care staff is fully informed of their resident’s conditions and needs through a verbal report, accurate up to date assignment sheets and care conferences.</li>\n<li>Communicate with resident’s families to inform them of changes, incidents, hospitalizations, and needs in a tactful, empathetic manner.<br></li>\n</ul>\n<p> </p>\n<p>Better Living is an equal opportunity employer and is in accordance with the Ontario Human Rights Code, Employment Standards Act and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act.
