The Quality Engineer will focus on postproduction electrical failures by following a SIPOC (Supplier, Inputs, Process, Outputs, Customers) problem solving approach. This person will work with all aspects of Lake Cable and with a variety of personnel to create and maintain world class quality at Lake Cable.</p><p><strong>Essential Functions:</strong></p><ul><li>Evaluate the equipment needs of the Quality Department and research available options</li><li>Become Subject Matter Expert on UL (Underwriters Laboratories) standards and audit processes to ensure the standards are being followed</li><li>Work with other departments and customers on system improvements to prevent nonconforming material</li><li>Oversee the corrective action system, lead corrective action teams and assist in implementing corrective action solutions</li><li>Maintain and improve the current Quality Management System to streamline data acquisition for more robust analytics</li><li>Manage supplier relationships through weekly meetings with key suppliers to improve the quality of incoming products</li><li>Create quarantine and return to vendor procedures, and quality standards for nonconforming material from suppliers</li><li>Perform root cause analysis and data analysis to assure corrective actions are working and effective</li><li>Write procedures for the Quality Department and assist others in writing procedures</li><li>Create and report periodic quality metrics</li><li>Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives</li><li>Support quality testing and inspection when necessary</li><li>Coordinate with sister facilities to share and apply best practices</li><li>Perform other duties not necessarily outlined above as assigned</li><li>Adhere to company practices, disciplines, and accepted standards of ethics and behavior</li></ul><p><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong></p><ul><li>Basic background in polymers and electrical circuits preferred</li><li>Analytical skills with the ability to use logic and reasoning in identifying the strength and weakness of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems</li><li>Thorough understanding of design of experiments to prove a theory is analytically true or false</li><li>Ability to conduct tests and inspections of product and processes to evaluate quality and performance of product</li><li>Ability to observe and obtain information from all relevant sources, use this information along with individual judgment to determine whether products and processed comply with standards</li><li>Ability to work with minimal supervision, multi-task and resolve problems</li><li>Excellent interpersonal, listening, and communication skills, both verbal and written</li><li>Proficient using to use Microsoft Office applications &ndash; Outlook, Word, Excel, and Access Data Base as well as</li><li>Maintain work area in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion, assuring the safest work environment possible</li><li>Knowledge of and ability to use problem solving tools such as root cause analysis, 5 Why, and fishbone diagrams</li><li>Ability to lead teams and run meetings</li><li>Ability to evaluate and analyze complex process data</li><li>Experience with working in multi-functional teams</li><li>Ability to present data and conclusions to technical and non-technical audiences</li></ul><p><strong>Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>B.S. in Engineering in one of the following specialties: Chemical, Industrial, Electrical or Mechanical.</li><li>1+ years in a Quality Engineer role</li></ul><p><strong>Work Environment:</strong></p><p>While performing the essential functions of the job, the employee operates within both a laboratory and plant environment. &nbsp;
